I think for whatever reasons that Christmas is celebrated, they have the right just as well. They may not celebrate it as christians would, but they have a right just as christians have a right to celebrate halloween. If it brings families closer and love is spread, so be it.

They don't celebrate Christmas as Christ's Birthday.
The United States are Trying to take Christ out of Christmas so that people of other Religions aren't offended!
Allot of use to be Christmas cards now say "Happy Holliday's" Some say "Merry X-Mas."Only non christian Christmas songs can be song in schools such as "Up on a house top" Not, OH Little Town of Bethlehem!"
It's a shame too!My Grandchildren have winter break not Christmas break. But the individual family can keep Christ in the "Holiday" It is up to us to teach our children the real meaning for Christmas.

It depends on what you mean by "celebrate." In my country that period is set aside for partying, dancing, and general getting together. In other words, it's mostly an excuse for a good time, which is fine by me. Nobody ever asks anyone to pray, kneel or otherwise do anything except have a good time. So in fact, it's sort of the other way around, isn't it? Why should a period of good cheer be subordinated to this or that religious dictum?

And by the way, I doubt the Jesus person was born in December. Those were Pagan (Saturnalian) holidays appropriated by Christians in the first place. So is it right for Christians to celebrate Jupiter?

I am a Christian, and I think it is fine that everyone celebrate Christmas. For the Christians, it is a Spiritual holiday, derived from a pagan holiday (isn't it wonderful how what satan mean't for bad, God turns it in for something good?)

For the unbelievers, it is a holiday celebrated about giving and thankfulness, and they get exposed to Christianity, like it or not. I believe that alot of people come to Christ during that time.

Christmas isnt just about getting together with family, eating, and opening presents. Lets not forget the real reason of christmas. And thats Jesus Christ, And celebrating His birth
So if you dont believe in God, or Jesus Christ as the Messiah, then yeah, you can celebrate christmas with the wrong meaning, or you can know the right meaning of it and believe.

Why not! Christmas celebrates the birth of one who loved everyone, without regard to their beliefs. Teaberrygum

Why not? It is not like Jesus was born then or anything. The bible clearly states that at the time of Jesus' birth, the shepards were tending their flocks in the hills. If that is true and Jesus was born in winter, then those poor sheep must have been eating snowballs. Sheep are tended in the highlands during spring and summer. Jesus was probably born in the spring - closer to Easter than Christmas.

Those people are not celebrating Christmas, they are celebrating the *holiday* just as merchandisers do. No problem, let 'em. Those of us who pray and give thanks, some go to church, but the ones who know it is the birth of Christ we are celebrating are celebrating Christmas!

The Winter Solstice has been celebrated for millenia. It's been around before there was a Jesus. Why shouldn't everyone be able to celebrate at that time of year?
