My daughter needs braces. From what I've been able to determine thus far, a dentists price is 10% to 15 % brace cost and the rest markup for his services. Can anyone with current experience in my area recommend a GOOD, CHEAP dentist. My goal is to solve her problem, not buy the dentist a vacation cruise.
They seem to really lock the market from what I understand. You can't get a comparison, unless you pay each one for an office visit. Thx for any personal experience answers.

You have severely underestimated the cost to the dentist. I am an orthodontist, and I certainly do not pocket 80-90% of my fee, as you have suggested (boy, that would be nice though.)

The words GOOD and CHEAP can go together for clothing sales, not healthcare. You generally get what you pay for when it comes to things like this. If it is less expensive, then the person providing the care probably is not as good as the guy down the block. In your area, I would anticipate spening between 3900-5000+ to fix you child. Payment plans help with your budget. Sorry this is not the answer you are looking for, but it is probably what will get your child a good result.

Never skimp on your childrens medical care, that could cost you more in the long run. You can pay in increments instead of a lump sum for the braces. Shop around, get quotes from orthodontists, but the best price does not mean the best service either. You should never have to pay for information. I also suggest contacting a dental school to see what information you can get from them.
