Genetics. You can inherit some mental disorders. Also, traumatic life experiences that they cannot get over. Toxins in the environment that affect the brain. Drugs, either prescribed or illegal. Additionally, there is new evidence that a poor diet can affect some people to the point of creating what appears to be a mental disorder, but really isn't.

Unfortunetly most is caused by trauma, like physical or emotional abuse, car accidents, etc.People who did drugs while pregnant, this I know first hand. The child suffers from the drugs and suffers after being born. I sit for one of the kids and he has little control of anything. A Cocain addicted baby.

The brain for whatever reason stops producing chemicals such as sarotonin. Nothing to be ashamed of. Just get the proper help!
