as someone who has dyed their hair for years i would suggest going to a salon.. i have done both, salon and doing it on my own.. the products at a salon is alot less damaging to you hair.. also when i was going blond from a reddish brown, they put in a special product to take the red out.. i rarely change my color dramatically.. but when i do, i always have a professional do it the first time..unfortunately it can be costly.. from $60-$100 or sometimes more..but spend the money and get it done Right!!you will not regret it..

You can try going gradually to the shade that you want by continuing to dye your hair - go for a couple of shades lighter than you are now. You can also cut some of your hair (from an inconspicuous spot) and do a test with the color you want to see if you like the color. It may end up that your hair turns out perfectly and you can dye your hair yourself. This would avoid orange hair or some other sort of disaster that would require an emergency trip to a high priced color specialist.

Personally, I would go to a good salon and ask for a coloring consultation which should be free and you'll find out how much it would be to totally color your hair. In my area it costs about 100.00 or so for foil highlights and is probably a little more expensive for a complete color.

I am a hairdresser and I recommend going to a stylist your never gonna get what you want at home especially red to blonde. And depending on where you leave the price can vary. At my shop it would be $40 to strip the red and $35-$40 to color first time color. Or you could just get a heavy foil with two shades of blonde and get a nice 3 dimensional color that would look hot. That could start at $80-$85 and up.Good luck

I've been all colors over the years and when I decided to go from
red to blonde I went to a salon; I knew they'd have to do a double process and I didn't have the experience. When I got the color I was happy with I then went to dyeing my own to save money.

you dont want to do it yourself. I do hair for a living and blonde is a very hard color to pull of. Its different with reds, and browns, but you really don't want to mess with blonde yourself. Let the salon do it you will be a lot happier!!
