The Musical is Stop the World, I Want to get Off.

It is a musical of 1962 [in US]with Anthony Newley. Songs and Book by
Leslie Bricusse, and Anthony Newley.

Newley was Tony Award nominee in 1963 as Best Actor, Best Author of a Musical, Best Composer and Lyricist, And Best Musical for
Stop the World. . . . - Nominee in all four categories.

Stop the World -- I Want to Get Off became a Broadway hit, as well as a genuine idiom. Even now, it's paraphrased eight times a week on Broadway and on the road as Leo Bloom of The Producers yells, "Stop the world -- I want to get on!"

It also has a marvelous song by Newley, "What kind of Fool Am I?"

Original cast album on CD by Decca. Absolutely marvelous and hilarious
production.

What kind of fool am I
Who never fell in love
It seems that I'm the only one
that I have been thinking of

What kind of man is this?
An empty shell-
A lonely cell in which
an empty heart must dwell

What kind of lips are these
That lied with every kiss
That whispered empty words of love
that left me alone like this

Why can't I fall in love
Like any other man
And maybe then I'll know what kind of fool I am.

What kind of clown am I?
What do I know of life?
Why can't I cast away the mask of play
and live my life?

Why can't I fall in love
Till I don't give a damn
And maybe then
I'll know what kind of fool I am

Bricusse also did the songs Goldfinger and Thunderball [007]

The correct quote is "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off", and it was a 1966 musical. Not very popular, not a big hit.
