Soul is the intelligence which is beyond the mind. It is of course non-material.
Our thoughts keep it improsoned during life because instead of we controlling our thoughts, our thoughts control us.
To free the soul, we need to watch our thoughts for what they are. Life is now and that is were you will find the soul if your mind is free of thoughts.

Good “logical” question Marko! I have heard this valid human question asked many a time in the past by other "souls", BUT it seems like this time you actually did receive some decent answers, my friend. ... The only thing that appears to be curiously omitted (besides an Espinoza-like investigation of the potential notion of "substance"), however, is a non-linear anomalous consideration.
"*" Thank you, I consider your remark to be a heartfelt accolade - either way. Though, I promise you: Should you hang in there long enough the anomaly will eventually be revealed to you! ... And I hope that's no gibberish. :-)

What does the Bible teach about the soul?
It teaches us that we do not have souls, we are souls. The Bible is very clear about this. At Genesis 2:7 it says: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (So Adam became a soul or a person.)
Leviticus 5:4: "Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these." (A soul can swear)
Leviticus 7:27: "Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people." (A soul can eat)
Leviticus 22:11: "But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat." (Animals are souls too.)
Leviticus 23:30: "And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people." (Souls can work and be destroyed)
Ezekiel 18:4: "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die." Also Ezekiel 18:20: " The soul that sinneth, it shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him." Also Revelation 16:3: " And the second poured out his bowl into the sea; and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living soul died, even the things that were in the sea." (A soul is not immortal--it dies)

The "soul" is simply the collective energy of the nervous system on a very subtle level transmitted via ionic Sodium Potassium gradient shift along the neurones....
It is kept there because it has no other medium through which to escape while the body is still alive and functioning.
Once the body dies.... it dissipates.... and returns essentially to nothingness (or rather a randomised nature of pure, non-descript chaos).

We were created as a triune being with a mind a body and a soul, we are not one or the other we are all three, without all three we are not who we are.
We now have a corruptible body that can and will sin, when we leave this world we will receive an incorruptible body that will not know sin, I believe that will include our mind (renewed in Christ) being knew but our soul will still be the same.
Our soul could not leave us or we would not be us.
Just my thoughts.
God Bless

The soul is who we are, it is our mind, not our body. The soul resides within the mind (the mind resides within the brain) and that is what keeps it tied to this physical body. When we die, and the brain stops, the mind is let go with the spirit (they are one).

The soul is non-material... mind, will, emotions. I don't consider it imprisoned, but the physical body is it's earthly home.
