It is considered a gateway drug for a few reasons. But beyond that, it certainly does do damage; the heat from the smoke is hotter than cigarette smoke and damages lung and esophagus tissue, affects reproduction in males and females, chemicals from sprays affects lungs, etc., etc.
There is no drug, legal or otherwise, that does not affect you in some negative way.

Yes, it is a gateway drug, many people who first try that, figure cool, think I will try such and such, and that where the really bad addictions come in. Just my humble opinion. I the only ones that will say its not a gateway drug, are those that use it. Of course anything you like and enjoy you will stand up for.

I still consider it a drug, even though people think is not as bad, when youre stoned you forget about your every day problems, even though you are relaxed and think its not a drugb, It is defenetly one. Anything that is not legal is a drug, it can be legal in other countries but in America is only legally prescribed to patients who really needed as pain killer, now to me its a gateway drug because it makes you forget unpleasent thoughts and it makes you forget what a shitty day youve had, Fortunately I stay away from it as much as I can.

Well that depend on how you used it because marijuana is also a good medicine. if you abused using it then it is a gateway to drug addiction but if you used it in good ways then it's not agateway.
