I would not consider it evil, per se. I would protect myself and my loved ones. If the threat of death was imminent, and there was no way to talk my way out of it or disarm the other person, I would kill them to save my own life or the lives of my loved ones.
But I would live forever with the guilt of having killed another human being and God and I would be having a lot of heart to heart talks.

I believe that if you kill in self defense, you can still be forgiven. I don't believe it is evil. You are just keeping yourself from harm and/or your family members. I would hate to be put in that situation though - very scary - and as a Christian that would be tough - but would have to do that to protect my loved ones.

Let me preface this by stating that I consider myself to be a good Christian. That said if someone were to harm any of my family or loved ones whomever they may be, I would not hesitate to get medieval on that A**. My dad was a Green Beret and made sure each of his 4 daughters know well how to handle a weapon. I would prefer not to have to use them, but I will defend my own to the death.

What happens, happens.
Violence is for the vast majority of situations not only unnecessary, but it provokes more violence.
Just look at the Middle East. So many people there believe in revenge for violence and so all we see is a vicious circle of attacks in revenge of other attacks in revenge of other attacks in revenge of ...
People are violent due to a perceived, but usually not real, fear.

Nope not evil. If there was someone/thing trying to kill my children I would see no difference in me killing a nutjob trying to get my kids and a wild animal defending it's young. We are all alike......

Not at all.
If it would stand in a court of law... that I was killing for self-preservation... to stop myself being killed..... then that'd be great. Seems like the perfect excuse to kill people.
I mean I'd be killing people on a regular basis if it wasn't for the whole "go to jail and be butt-raped by fat guys" thing.

Fighting, and killing in defense is not wrong. True, sometimes one has to make a pre-emptive strike, but, it is still in defense.
