If you're in the UK, here's a couple of Chihuahua rescues that might be worth a try (might be worth phoning for advice even if you are too far away to rehome from there - be aware that they may well be VERY busy, so be prepared to wait):

British Chihuahua Club Rescue
Mrs P Bungard, Hove, Sussex. Tel: 01273 413501

Chihuahua Rescue Service
Edith Esland, Chesterfield, Derbys. Tel: 01246 866334

Alternatively, you could go on to dogpages.org and put down your details in the "homes offered" section. Rescues often look on here and will contact you (via the site - so keep checking) if they have a dog available.

Good luck.

Good for you for looking for a rescue dog! There need to be more people like you:)

Try www.petfinder.com to see if there is a group online near you...although I think this is only for the US.

Contact the national breed club and get the names/info of rescue groups closer to you. In the US go to the Chihuahua Club of America rescue page at:
http://www.chihuahuaclubofamerica.com/rescue.htm

You'll see there is a link to a national rescue group which is its own group, PLUS a list of contacts for the National Chihuahua Club's rescue efforts.

If you are not in the US, contact the national breed club and I'm sure they will help you.

Congrats on your decision to adopt a rescue dog through a group that fosters.
Best wishes.

THEY LIKE YOU TO HAVE NO YOUNG CHILDREN AND TO BE HOME MOST OF THE TIME. ALSO THEY LIKE PREVIOUS OWNERS OF THIS BREED, AND TO NO ALL ABOUT THE HISTORY. I HAVE ATTACHED A WEB SITE IN WHICH YOU CAN VIEW THERE IS A CONTACT NUMBER FOR THE PERSON WHO DEALS WITH FOSTER HOMES. GOOD LUCK!
