Pantene Ice Shine. Like any Pantene product the effect isn't completely seen until you've used it more than 3 times. But it will impart an amazing shine to your hair afterwards.

Unfortunately, you can only use this for about 2 weeks (of daily use) before too much product builds up in your hair, and it starts looking greasy. Use a clarifying shampoo to strip out excess product.

Citre Shine has a number of products that promote shine. Pick one that is right for your type of hair. Buildup is a problem with these products as well.

Alba makes a product called Botanica Brilliant Shine Gloss Serum. I've never used it myself, but it's supposed to be all natural.

Got2b makes one called So Smooth, Liquid Shine, Shine Spray. Use sparingly please, this is not like hair spray.

Joico has K-Pak Protect and Shine Serum. I also haven't tried this, but have heard it's very good.

Please remember that all serums added to hair to make them shine are flammable while they are wet. Don't apply if you are smoking or otherwise close to open flame.

I hear the French rinse their hair with vinegar to get it shiny

I have also heard that beer works well

For my hair I use olive oil, jojoba and almond oil. I mix them myself and I use it on my hair after I have straightened it.

Having moisturized hair is one thing but having shine is another. I use oil because its lubricates the hair shaft, makes it smother and coats it to better reflect light. I don't use it on my hair when it is wet because there is no point, oil and water don't mix and to get the full benefit of oil or laminates use after you have washed, conditioned and moisturized the oil/laminate locks the good stuff in and afterward nothing can get thru so make sure that's your last step. Sometimes I will use oil sheen in a pump bottle. Isoplus make a really good one - the aerosols have alcohol which can dry out your scalp and make it itchy and flaky.
You will definitely need to use a clarifying shampoo after a couple of days.
If you are not an oil girl then I think the different rinsing ideas make be a good idea. I also use cold water to rinse out my conditioner to close the hair shaft so that I won't get frizzies. I don't know if it makes my hair shinier though. I have tried the apple cider vinegar rinse but I felt like I could still smell it - maybe i did it wrong - I have also use citishine products and they work ok

Anyways
Good Luck

This sounds strange but it works:

Blondes: Lemon juice watered down in a standard cup of warm water. Be careful to wash your hands thorougly afterwards as otherwise the sun and lemon juice will make your skin blister.

Brunettes: four tablespoons of vinegar in a standard cup of warm water.

This helps keeps it healthy too as it gets rid of dirty oils and grease.

Apparently this works. If you don't believe me google it.

lemon for shiny hair
vinegar for shiny hair

type them in google and you will see I'm not making it up. My sisters friend does it and her hair looks great.

When you put shampoo on, wash it out with warm water. Then, when you put conditioner on, wash it out with cold water. That's the best home remedy. And it doesn't look greasy like some store-bought shine conditioners. The best shampoo and conditioner to do this with is Herbal Essences.
