In layman's terms, I think it is to enable people to live healthier and happlier lives. Not everyone is blessed with perfect health / living conditions and so we need to work towards improving both of these.

This research shows that it is being looked into and there are constant improvements. People do complain that we're turning into a "Nanny State" but there must be some benefits!

Apparently to lower the general incidence of suffering and early mortality in humanity.


Lowering the incidence of suffering I can understand.... but lowering the incidence of mortality isn't going to help anyone.

stay as you are why put yourself through self inflicted pain and perhaps be disappointed afterwards
