Surely Christians believe in turning the other cheek & forgiveness so shouldn't approve of capital punishment.

There is no such thing as a christian form of punishment for any crime. Punishment for crimes is the for the government. God sent his only son here to be put to death by the local government. I don't understand why people can't accept the death penalty if God can accept it???? Also, Jesus's quote.. "give unto Cesar that which is Cesar's and give unto God that which is God's" seems to be the original separation of church and state policy. In other words, let the government put their criminals to death, let the church try to prevent them from becoming criminals in the first place!!

If you go by the old testament it is the eye for an eye policy.
If you go by the new then you should forgive and forget the crimes, but not the lessons learned from the acts.
Or to be truly Christian, just put a catholic priest in the room with the man tied up and let the priest "stick it to him" if you know what i mean.

I would suppose the ideal would be to avoid suffering, unless of course you're talking about the Inquisition brand of Christian. So if one were to mete out capital punishment in a Christian manner I would suppose the ideal would be to be quick and merciful,so firing squad or hanging if done properly might suffice. These were both manners of execution used by our supposedly Christian forefathers who did say that there should be no cruel or unusual punishment,so if it was good enough for them it works for me.

None. But it is different song when you speak about Christians or Christian countries. America is a Christian country and they practice death penalty (execution with electricity chair...). I think America is the only so called modern country which practice execution. It shows how aggressive country America is.

None. Christians should oppose the Death Penalty. What right do we have to take another's life? Thou shalt not murder.

Complete separation of church and state please. Just execute the guy and get over with it. Christianity already has millions of people on death row anyway by "manipulating their souls to the church's benefit ".

Hanging or electrocution is not always swift they seen to suffer. I think death by injection of some powerful toxic substance is more humane..

Lethal injection is fast and painless .
Otherwise the condemned would have to listen to endless christian yammering untill he died.
Lethal injection is the most humane way to go .

Forgiving the person
Read the following verse from the Holy Bible
Luke 6:37
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
May God bless you and guide you in his truth and light which removes all darkness. In Jesus name. Amen
