you wil not add alot of mass with protein powder alone without carbs taken along is that alot of it used by the body for energy and little is left for building muscle

how do i know if I consume the protein is enough to build muscle after some is used to provide energy? is the "recommended" take-in stated in the labels of the protein supplement enough?

You can add mass with any food substance. The mass gainer usually contains a lot of calories including protein and carbohydrates. The protein drinks / supplements usually contain less calories (most of which come from protein).

So your sentence is correct.

However, consume enough protein powder and you'll gain mass. It's all about calories in versus calories expended. If you want to take on mass, simply consume more calories (and do less cardio) than you burn in a typical day.
