yes it can and personally I much prefer it raw than cooked. Obviously when raw it retains all of its vitamins too that some would be destroyed when cooked. Raw spinach is generally used to make a nice salad with.

I admit to being a bit shocked by this question. Where do you live? Very interesting...
Anyway, the classic way to do it is a salad with the spinach (remove the stalks and tough bits, or, better yet, use the "baby" kind), some mushrooms, hard-boiled eggs, and bacon.
But, suggestions aplenty from a fairly reliable site:

Re. Popeye: didn't he eat that awful slimy stuff in the tins, though? Also, from Wikipedia, "Popeye the Sailor has a strong affinity for spinach, becoming much stronger after consuming it. However, it should be noted that during the 1930s (when the series was popular) "spinach" was a slang term for marijuana." Seems a tenuous connexion -- if it was merely referred to rather than shown, sure, but -- yet still amusing...

All spinach can be eaten raw, but baby-leaf spinach tastes better as it is less bitter. Just try using it as another leaf in a mixed salad.

of course spinach can be eaten raw. it is very good that way as a salad, and there are many good spinach salad recipes out there. I love mine with Raspberry vinigrette, and chopped walnuts, or pommegranate seeds.
You can find many good suggestions on the food Network. or in a good cookbook.

Absolutely. I love a spinach salad made with crumbled boiled eggs and bacon, you can add shredded carrot and cherry tomatoes to if you like. Brianna's makes a balsamic strawberry salad dressing that goes great on it but italian dressing works wonderfully too.
I also love spinach in place of lettuce in sandwiches. My fav's are roast beef, onion, spinach and cheddar on pumernickle or rye with horseradish sauce. Also try turkey with spinach, swiss cheese, stuffing and cranberry sauce mix with a little mayo on a crusty roll. Mmm Mmm Good!

Yes spinach can be eaten raw....a lot of shops sell it as separate spinach leaves in a plastic package. You can add it to salads so it can be a bit tastier and add lemon and oil to it.

They are much better raw than cooked, especially the baby ones. A little warm bacon dressing, croutons and a few strips of shredded chicken breast and Voila...spinach salad. Very tasty....

Spinach raw is generally known as spinach salad, it really nice with extra virgin olive oil drizzled on it and pine nuts (I also add anchovies too but this is an acquired taste)
