I live in Victoria..and in a residential property...you can only have I think up to three dogs. I am also a dog breeder, but I only have two beautiful dogs on my property...If we want more ,,then we will consider moving to a rural property with the room to accommodate more dogs...as I do love dogs. To sam who wrote to shoot the dogs...I am just speechless..what an irresponsible and above all very immature and "young" comment to make. Nobody should condone baiting or shooting a dog - not even in joke...and by the way not at all funny. As for saying it is of no concern to anyone else how many dogs someone has..wrong! If my next door neighbour had 13 dogs that (lets face it will bark from time to time...one starts and they all start barking) or caused an offensive smell that whiffed over my fence..then you had better believe that I would be peeved...You have to consider your neighbour..it is only fair...If you don't want to have to consider your neighbour....then move into a rural property where you wont have any neighbours. As for what should be done....Contacting the authorites is your only option as obviously the neighbour with all the dogs could'nt care less.

cheers

Well I am totally gob smacked that the council won't get involved, have you rung the environmental health department as they should do something, only other suggestion I can make is the RSPCA, do it asap, sounds like a health risk to both the dogs and everyone else, poor things, good luck.

ohmigod!!! the stench and noise must be awful.. Call the RSPCA deffinately even if they are looked after dogs that surely can't be nice for the dogs, my god they must run in a pack that or it must sound like a dogs home.
If the garden is real bad try calling environmetal health. Thinking on the noise side you could maybe try repoting them for noise pollution.
If that fails I would really suggest taking pictures of the garden maybe try to get a recording of the noise they make and go to the local paper, the council will soon pull their finger out!!!

I sympathise with you,my neighbour only has one dog but she never ever clears up her dogs pooh and it is a very unpleasant smell during hot days,so I can well imagine what it must be like with 13 dogs,my neighbours garden is one mass of Docks,if she wants to grow docks then thats her business and if her dog treads pooh into her house thats also nothing to do with me, but I think it unfair to myself and neighbour other sid eof her to have to put up with the stench due to laziness on her part

Hi. Before you take any action please make sure those dogs are indeed dogs they breed (in which case your neighbor needs a permit and there's laws on how many dogs to keep in a household). BUT if your neighbor is a rescuer, it means those dogs were saved from the streets and/or abusive families. Calling the police will only put those dogs in shelter and they will most likely be killed in less than a week unless they get individually adopted.... Please, think about it. Talk to your neighbor to find out more first. Best luck.

Speak to the RSPCA and the health dept. Also your local council because I think your'e only allowed 2 dogs in a residental area in NSW. If nothing changes threaten to go to the media

If there are signs that the animals are being abused/neglected even just not taking the animals out for walkies, then you should contact the R.S.P.C.A. Dont feel bad about calling them- you might be doing the animals a favour. If your concerned then call. They can decide if the animals are being kept in suitable conditions.

If there are no limits on dogs a person can have and if the situation is as bad as you say, call the health department. If that doesn't work, call the SPCA and they will check it out.
Good luck.

wow 13 dogs! i feel sorry for you.....your neighbour probably isnt concerned about her neighbours but only the concerns off the dogs.....but i believe its the law over here that your not allowed no more than 4 dogs in any home....if your not getting what you want from the council try writing to your local MP.....the R.S.P.C.A would also be someone else to get in contact with as they can give you some good advice and what legal action you can take
