I heard this argument before. People were saying the Year 2000 was the end.
I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

I study Bible prophecy..I agree the prophecies are very accurate. I think it is soon, prophecies are coming about every day. Just watch the news and you will see. Waves Roaring, Nation Against Nation, or Even kinda old ones like Isreal becoming a state.
I suggest you watch John Hagee or Jack Van Impe these men do preach alot on prophecy. So does Hal Lindsey
By the way, the above post stated 2012. That is because the Aztec calander ends in 2012 and if you remember the Aztec where experts in astronomy. Aswell made what some consider the first calander. But only GOD who knows when we shall be called in a twinkling of an eye. I don't think we should trust the Aztec calander...
@ the below post.... The second comming is when our lord Jesus will come with great clouds of glory and rule the earth for a 1000 years after that its forever... This shouldn't be confused with the rapture which comes before the second comming and Jesus meets us in the air. But he dosen't actually come to earth in this part.
Neat fact- Did you know he will bring the New Holy City with him? Yes, This is decribed in rev. 21 and 22 I believe.
Edit sorry I had the dates wrong...

I am a Christian who studies the Bible when I get an opportunity.
We are in the 'generation of the fig tree' which hallmarks the end times.
However, there remain elements of prophecy which remain to be fulfilled prior to the return of Christ and as you point out -- we are specifically told in the Bible that no person knows when that will be.
It has been stated that the time is near since the crucifixion.
Christ returns at the seventh trump. I don't see us at the first yet. I guess we'll know -- even if we miss the sixth -- that the seventh has occurred because we will be in spiritual bodies and not physical ones.

Friend, I do am studying Revelation & Prophecies & in fact our church is preaching on Prophecies. I have been saved over 36 yrs. many thinks Revelation should never have been written, I know that Revelation is a LOVE LETTER TO THE BRIDE, it is a very simple love letter if we have the Holy Ghost. Our church has preached on Prophecies for many yrs. Just in front of us Israel will take all their land back, & when Daniels 70th week of prophecy starts to end, there is still one week left, which will be 7 yrs. Christ comes back in the spirit form to take his Bride to the marriage supper, while Israel will have 2 prophets in Israel for 1260 days, & then the anti-christ will have them kill & their bodies will lay in the street for 3 1/2 days, & god will bring them back to life, & God will say Come up hither, & then the anti-christ will set himself up in the temple for 1260 days or 3 1/2 yrs. But many people don't know that in Daniel 12:11-12 we are looking at 75 extra days, what is these days for, First I said Christ comes back in the spirit form to take his Bride to the Marriage supper, & then at the end of the great tribluation or the last 1260 days. Christ will come back in the physical form with his Bride at his side. Rev 19:13-14 But Christ does not right away set his foot upon this earth, why, First that SIGN OF HIS COMING, will linger there for 75 days in the air, Why, Armegedion is fought the 1st. 30 extra days, & then the last 45 days Christ will have the temple cleansed, because Christ will not sit in a defiled temple. In Daniel 12:12, It says Blessed is he that waiteth & cometh to the 1335 days, why are those people Blessed, Because they came through the Great Tribulation & they had good morals about them so God will allow those to go over into the Millennium to live & reproduced. So First Israel will fight a miraclous war to get all their land back That war will set up the condition for Eze. 38 & 39 where it is speaking of Gog & Magog, Russia & Moscow & several other countires. Here is our church web site for further teachings on Prophecies. www.fachurch.org

I may not be christian, but...
I have heard similar things for people for a long time...
I've heard that natural disasters are getting worse-a sure omen. However, if you look at weather patterns over hundreds of years instead of relying on memories of natural disasters you have seen recently in the news, you'll find that the natural disasters are not getting worse, they are simply following cycles that have been around since 'weather' began. For example, look up El Nino...
Keep in mind that more people die during some natural disasters simply because the population in the areas affected is larger.
As for trying to predict when the 'end times' will come, you are committing a sin according to the bible. Your prediction is no less sinful than, say, the oracle at delphi many centuries ago.
Calling yourself a christian and trying to predict the end of the world seems like hypocrisy to me.

second coming?? Actually if you count from the book of Daniel where it talks about the 70 weeks of years, count from 607 BC to 1914 in our time,, that prophecy is fulfilled and its the end of the gentile times and now it is the end times. Not like a lot of T.V. Evangelicalism that are hoping for Jesus to arrive on the earth, He was enthroned in heaven already since 1914-1918 and that is why his presence is known and it is a sign for us. You should not be waiting on Jesus but get your spiritual life in order, he is a reining king in heaven.

Jean, your a smart person. The truth is that the second coming will never be predicted by man. Are you ready if he comes today? It doesnt matter if it is 5 minutes from now, or 5 thousands years from now, you live a good life and make a difference. This is your job while you are here.

2009? No, I doubt it. I'm not really worried about it yet. I remember what it says about the coming of the antichrist, about how most of the civilized world will be united under the rule of one person, and there will be peace for a short time (about three years). THEN we're supposed to see the end of it.
I see no one that could possibly be the antichrist yet. We still have time.
But I DO see the end coming within the next century.

Don't you think that all of this eagerness for the world to end reflects a problematic attitude about life?
Looking over this question and the answers, can you see why people think that this kind of religious belief is a problem to be overcome?

My opinion says about 15-20 years from now as the book goes. But I am not studying the prophesies at this point, as I do not worry about where I will be. Blessings to you this beautiful morning!
