Yes it will happen again and over the years to come
depending on whether it was a night terror or night mare
one happens regularly the other very occasionally
a little TLC (Tender loving care) and some reassurance is all that is needed
if they are reoccurring check how much the child is eating before bed -TOO full a stomach can cause them sometimes
best of luck and enjoy her she sounds like a treasure

It is common - pediatricians will confirm this. My oldest daughter would sleepwalk from time to time, and once she even sat straight up in her bed & screamed about "terydactyles"...not sure where THAT dream was coming from - she must have been learning about them in pre-school that day, but she was totally convinced they were flying around her room! LOL! My 2 year old granddaughter has been going through this for several months, although it is getting less frequent lately. Just sit with her & hold/rock her and let her know you're there for her - whatever it takes to comfort her. She needs love & assurance when this happens. Also, if she is sleeping in her own room, make sure there is no way for her to fall out of bed or that there's nothing she may hurt herself on. When people have night terrors, they may LOOK like they are awake when they truly aren't. If your daughter is not responding directly to you, then she most likely isn't really awake. Just continue trying to soothe her until she's able to settle down, and maybe try to pinpoint what might be causing the problem. Did her sister really fall & get hurt recently? Did she see something happen on tv or to another child that might make her think her sister could get hurt? Toddlers are VERY observant...

Yes they can. Our pediatrician said that nightmares usually start around 18 months and that was just about when our son started waking up crying. All you can do is go in and try to soothe her with love, hugs and kisses. Maybe a nightlight would help or a special stuffed toy that may comfort her.

Yes they have. Kelly is right. You have to hug him/her a lot before
he/she becomes okay. Sometimes, its funny to see them laugh in sleep. Similarly its distressing to see them cry. Usually as my son's paed suggested, it often happens when kids have a heavy bloated stomach and / or having some ache. Try giving some digestive like "gripe water" at night (that's what we call in India, forgive me I do not know the equivalent in your country). It soothes. Still if it persists, consult doctor.
BEWARE: These are my experiences with my son. For any condition with kids, its always better to consult a paediatrician and neonatologist.

I used myself and my husband. we told our girls if something bad happens in ur dreams just think of me and daddy and we will b there in ur dreams 2 help. it worked 4 our girls but u may have 2 find ur own lil thing with ur lil one.
Good luck.

Yes and some even sleep talk. My son used to order us around about the light in his sleep. He'd shout, "Turn on the light, I said don't turn off the light I said." Other days it would be the opposite and asking us to turn it off. Sometimes the lights weren't what he thought they were so we knew he was dreaming.

yes they do.
they also get what is termed "night terrors", and really while they are nightmares, roughly it is about them trying to figure things out about their world.
it simply takes time and a lot of reassurance and it will pass
