"trade plates" are plates with a D in the middle of them. they are issued to car dealers for test drives, there is also something called "inter transit" they are for repair shops to drive the car from one place to another.

dealer plates , repair mans plates, those things that offer coverage on vehicles that are only in their possession for a short time , ever seen any "experimental" ? that's one car you don't want to tailgate!
