He is left with our 10 week old springer puppy for no longer than 2 hours at a time and has recently started to tear slats from the garden fence and tear them to bits. It is too expensive to keep replacing the fences so any suggestions would be appreciated.

he is bored. Simply being left with another dog won't stop it. Are they getting plenty of off lead running exersize every day? Does it have food and water when you leave it alone in the garden? This needs to be stopped before the dog damages itself from splinters apart from the fact that fence treatment chemicals are dangerous. It may be stressed with the puppy. Personally I would not leave a 10 weeks old puppy alone in the garden with a much bigger and older pup in any case. It isn't safe.

get a water spray bottle and fill it with water but also put something like hot curry powder, or chilli powder, something that will make him go "yak" over! then spray the fence with it!!! my mum currently has mustard smeared over her walls to stop her 9 month old cocker spaniel from eating the walls!! lol
