I had PRK done several years ago at the Optimax clinic on Finchley Rd, London, with very good results. I was short sighted, with a mild astigmatism.
PRK is where they zap the front of your cornea with a lazer. This has now been superceded by Lasic, where they first cut a flap in the cornea, lift it up, and then zap with the laser. The flap is then put back in position.
Back in 1996 with PRK, I had to have one eye done at a time, three months apart, but the total cost was only UKP700.
With Lasic you can have both eyes done together as there is very little discomfort. UKP2000 should be plenty for the op. I know of people who have had this done during a lunch break and gone back to work straight afterwards.
The only downside to Lasic is that you need to be careful about rubbing your eyes for sometime after the operation, or you might risk dislodging the flap in the cornea.
Even having had the old-style, now superceded operation, I have never looked back, if you'll pardon the pun, and would recommend this to anybody.

2K should be enough, I had mine done 2yrs ago and it cost me £995 per eye from Ultralase using their Lasik system. My eyes are perfect now and had no complications at all - Why go to ones that are offering 995 for both eyes - sounds too cheap for me!.
Ultralase now offer Lasik a lot cheaper as technology has advanced and they now prmote ultraLasikplus as the 'next best thing'. they promise tha it's even better then their Lasik treatment but i've had no problems with that.
Advice: don't go for cheap and cheerful, use a company that's been around for a good few years, they might be more expensive but for peace of mind it's worth it. enjoy - it's such a relief not wearing glasses!.

Helen in Drake and Josh didn't go wholly blind. She most effective could not see for like 24 hours due to the fact her eyes needed to heal after the surgical procedure or whatever. However later she was great.

We have considered doing so for myopia or astigmatism, but as we were informed that if you are over 40 years of age there is no guarantee that you still won't have to wear glasses we didn't proceed. If the problem was glaucoma then we most certainly would have.
