I'm 14 and two years ago I first began to have my hair professionally hightlighted. Back when I was 11 I got 6, very thin, streaks to add a little more life into my naturally "mousy" hair (light brown hair with a grayish cast). Last year I began playing around with a few more streaks here and there and tried out layers aswell. This year in March I had my hair streaked with 24 highlights. Up until then my hair had been in top condition... no split ends and the highlights remained vibrant and pretty. After my salon disaster in March my hair has been disgusting and split despite have a few trims since then (I can't afford regular trims). Since then I dyed my hair a more natural, semi-permanent colour for the first time, and it was a reddish brown. I had all my split ends cut off once and for all and my hair was around the collar. For the first 6 weeks, my hair stayed in that great condition... then it went shoddy again! How can I stop this once and for all so I can grow my hair out witho

without the worry of split ends or hair weakness? Eventually I'd love to turn my hair back to it's natural colour (the mousy brown) and grow it long. It's been 10 weeks since my last trim and my hair is just past my shoulders.

It sounds like your hair is damaged from all the coloring and highlighting. Everytime you color your hair it shrinks and of course dries it out. You need to stop coloring your hair and get regular trims. If you dont get regular trims your split ends can get worse than what they already are. Also try to do some deep conditioning. You can get some really good homemade recipes on the internet.

The only way to stop the damage from chemical processing is to stop chemical processing. Sorry.
That said, there are some things you can do to make it 'look' a little better, though it will not be healthy hair until all the damage is grown out. Infusium23 leave in conditioner is great, so is Fermodyl (that is available at Sally Beauty). I used both of those when my hair was so chemically processed I couldn't even get a pick through it!

One reason your hair could be so mushy to the straightener is with the help of the undeniable fact which you do no longer often do something that is considered damaging on your hair. i might only ascertain you're utilising a warmth protectant in the previous you utilize your straightener. My hair fabric cloth cabinet says to apply it in the previous you word any form of warmth on your hair, like a flat iron or curling iron. maximum of them no longer basically save your hair from splitting yet they make it shinier too. additionally, like the remark in the previous me, it does not harm to have a stable variety the two. Chi or infant Bliss is what i might recommend. they could be extra costly yet they somewhat are somewhat worth it! while wanting to purchase a straightener ascertain that as quickly as you shut it the two aspects are touching all a thank you to the top of the ceramic tiles and that there at the instant are not any gaps the place you will see in between. additionally, yet another reason of chop up ends may be in case your straightener has a tendency to "snag" your hair and wreck it off. desire that helped!

Anything chemical you put on your hair is going to damage it somewhat, so yes coloring it will damage it and cause split ends, especially if what your using contains peroxide or lightening chemicals.

Best to do is get moisturising treatments and feed your hair.
