Well, what you're identifying as a "white witch" probably refers to those witches that hold to a system of positive ethics and who attempt to exercise their beliefs (magically and otherwise) in light of that ethical framework. On the other hand, there are those who try to act (magically and otherwise) in the absence of a positive ethical system, valuing their self-exaltation as a path to transcendence.

Some folks wouldn't consider the latter to be witches (or wiccans, or what have you) in the religious sense, probably labelling these as left hand path ceremonial magicians. To be fair, there's some merit to this argument as the "black witch" you refer probably doesn't do much in the service of the gods, so much as in the perceived emulation of a god.

From the "white" perspective, the "black magician's" path of self-exaltation is a precarious path that can easily lead to delusions of grandeur and karmic backlash for self-indulgent behavior. For the "black magician", the "white witch" might be seen as a soul grovelling before gods, subservient to invented and outdated codes of morality that only serve to prevent the full realization of their potential.

*shrug* It's just one perspective. If you're really interested, I suggest you read more and decide for yourself.

Take care,

Laz

Since I've been called both - I would say that the main difference is whether someone likes you or not. If they like you they call you a white witch if they don't like you they call you a black witch.

Personally I think it's all just a vaguely racist terminology which is used to mean "good" or "evil" but that it's really just a game of "us" vs. "them".

The truth is that magic can be used for either side or purpose. It is like fire or electricity - you can use it to cook your supper and light your house, or you can use it to burn a man to a crisp. The difference is simply what you choose to do with it.

Which is more powerful? In my experience the people that do *anything* at all may get a reputation for being "dark" simply because there are a lot of jealous and petty people who are very lazy and do very little except talk.

That said; I would not recommend that anyone choose a so called "dark" path however - that is as limited and false as the "everything is sweetness and light and puppies" point of view.

I think that most witches who learn to work magic use it simply to do what needs to be done and cannot be done with other more ordinary means.

Since there are always consequences to any action in life - I personally make sure that it's something worth doing and that the consequences are acceptable.

To me 'black' or 'white' are just colors - Anyone who says they do one but not the other is either not being honest or avoiding due diligence. Either label is deception.

If they were honest they would do a careful evaluation of each individual situation based on the individual case. Deciding to follow some arbitrary rule about dark or light or good and evil is really just an excuse for not taking time to think about each specific situation as carefully as if it was a matter of life and death.

Basically white witches are good and black witches are bad. It's as easy as that. A White witch is usually refered to as someone who does no harm in practising their craft and onlly follows a good path. Sometimes white witches cast spells for good purposes( dependant on whether you believe in spells of course). They sometimes make medicines and cures with herbs and work for the good of anyone who contacts them. they often , I am told, bekieve in the powers of nature and that their is a spirit in everything, plants, trees, animals, humans - though of course you don't have to be a white witch to think this. Black witches are said to worship 'darker' things and are equated with the devil and evil doings. Black witches should be avoided at all costs because even if you don't believe in black witchcraft they can do harm to people and animals in the belief that they are gaing power for usually their own self advancement. There are probably more people follow both of these ways than we think.

Black witches practice doing evil and the opposite for white witches. I would think white witches are more powerful because whatever is sent out comes back to you. I have read this several times that at the beginning of World War 2 a coven of white whitches met at Stonehedge to cast spells against the Nazis. Everyone who was there died at a young age and quite surprizingly

Nope, all power is equal, just differing in usage. But personally I don't believe in Black, White or Gray witches. Some White spells may seem "black" in nature and cause as much harm but are for the "good." But, if you wanted my best opinion, black witches would be people who are casting negative things all the time with no care for the world at all. Everyone needs to be in balance with Everything.

There is no difference between a Black or White Witch. All energy is the same, energy is one. Positive and Negative Electricity only exists within the Atom in the form of electrons and protons. Together atoms form molecules. We are made up of this density. We then emit energy which is neither positive or negative. That judgement is left to the perceiver doing the observing (when one says what they perceive to be negative or positive energy is what they 'judge'. We choose to 'feel' and 'judge', no one can 'do that for us'.

So there is only one power. One source of 'energy' neither light or dark, just 'one'.

I would be 'judged' to be 'seen' as a light worker. Yet others may perceive me to be a white witch. I do not cast spells, although they seem like they could be quite fun, I do not need tools, however, I choose to use them. Using Tarot may be perceived as witch craft to some, yet to many they are just Tarot and we read them. Any one can read Tarot or do spells and not be a witch.

My best friend is Wiccan. I am a Light Worker. She also Light Works in 'my' perception yet she does not perceive it as that. Labels, names and perceptions of these lead to judgements that brings fear.

Evil is when good men sit and do nothing. Witches believe in Goddess energy and working with Natural Forces. These forces are our elements. This is a very wide area of divination. Light Workers work with God, Goddess, Angel and any High Level Master or Guide. This is perceived and judged as evil by many, by good people. The work we do is to heal ourselves, eachother and this planet.

Do those who perceive any form of divination to be bad, actually 'do anything for healing self and planet?' Or do good people just sit and do nothing?

Blessings be yours in peace and light,

Dark witches try and manipulate people using the art of magik, disreguarding the karmik retrobutions (hence their eventual ugliness and lonliness). White witches (like myself) will only manipulate themselves, and help others. We are beautifull. Neither is more powerfull, but a dark witch has a larger range of fun little evil tricks in their bag (which can be tempting..I know).
