I suspect it's a bad ground. Try an old Jeeper trick. turn on your light's to full beam(?), and reach under the dash. Start gently wiggling the wires around the column to see if the lights go on. then move to the light switch then near the fuse panel.

If the lights come back at any point try to isolate the offending wire and clean /repair it.

HI M8, i'M OFF OUT IN A MIN, I JUST SAW UR QUESTION BUT I HAVENT THE TIME 2 GO THROUGH 2 MUCH. WHAT I WILL SAY THOUGH IS, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT PUT IN ANOTHER LIVE FEED AS U SAID UNTIL U FIND OUT WHAT THE PROB IS IN THE FIRST PLACE AS U CAN END UP WITH HELL IN ALL PROBS OR EVEN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, BETTER WITH £100 BILL THAN WRITING OFF WHOLE VEHICLE.

GOOD LUCK M8

all the above are on track , don't feed more power! try cleaning / adding grounds out back and at the headlights, my '88 had wires that were corroded inside the insulation , if you see green copper replace that wire.
