He is only your second boyfriend. He may or may not be the man for you. stop rushing into things there is plenty of time to find the man of your dreams. Treat him as a friend and have fun when you are with him. See your own friends NEVER give them up. Relationships take a life time to build and only a few min to end. so enjoy them . This guy is not ready to settle down he has his whole life a head of him and so have you.

Men don't usually see being in a comitted relationship as a goal. As you say he was making his education his priority, and will probably do the same with his career.
He just sounds like the practical type that likes to have things sorted out and is leaving the relationship thing until he's ready to work on it.
You say you're his first g/friend so the luck lad hasn't yet found out how demanding women are!! Give him a break, he sound like a good one!.
