When he could just as easily wave his hand and cause people to drop dead. Hmmm, could it be that that they WERE just natural disasters and not the wrath of god?

LOGIC! How refreshing! That and some of the disasters aren't recorded ANYWHERE else but in the Bible... Modern Christianity is based on misdirection and the threat of Hell.

That is true, and I actually saw a documentary on that, they took a particular segment from the bible, went to that place and showed how it happened by looking at the deposits left across the landscape.
Though, if you believe in The All Thing/Creator/God, then that is it, the all thing, everything and hence using natural forces.
I have read and can see its truth, that mass conciousness, anger etc.. can manifest and needs to be released and some of that release is done through massive storms (cyclones/hurricanes), earthquakes etc. Its interesting to read because you can see links that make it seem possible. But a majority of natural disasters are just that natural disasters and the Earths way of going through its cycle.

What would be more difficult - waving your hand or controlling nature?

But also check out when a husband and his wife tried to trick God with an amount of money in the new testament. No nature there.

Man in his ignorance, often attributed natural phenomenon to the will of gods. That's why we have the nature gods like Thor (lightning) to Agni (fire). Its only due to science that we are able to be more enlightened about our surroundings. But however, those strong (stubborn) in their faith will still interprete everything as an act of God for they rather have things happening for a reason (divine punishment, etc), then having it atrributted to a random act of fate. It makes them feel more in control of their life, and not just being killed by a falling elephant from the sky.

Look at this in another way, MOST religions were started to EXPLAIN WHAT THE PEOPLE AT THAT TIME DID NOT UNDERSTAND, so it's quite obvious that it will be natural disasters. Plus, what scares you more: a rock or a hail the size of mountains. I would think the latter.

It also begs the question why have a commandment that says "thou shalt not kill", but send the message, 'but it's ok if I do' by killing thousands of people?

Double standards and bullish behaviour I say.

Why would anyone worship a bully?
