No. If I was not serious about marriage, I would not give my partner false hope. If anyone does that, they are not much of a person as they are only doing it for their own personal gain, & possibly stopping that person moving on with their life. Selfish.

No i wouldnt bring it up if i wasnt serious.
Mabey it sounds like he is joking because he is actually nervous.
Does he "joke" infront of friends, or is it only the 2 of you?
If its just you 2, then i would have to say he is serious.

If she's my partner and I joke about marriage, there's a good chance I am thinking about it one way or another. If I'm not her partner, it's more than likely me trying to be funny. I'm not likely to propose marriage to a relative stranger or ex.

Reality Time Here,
Have you gone very far with this guy? I mean have you had sex with him already? If so he may be stringing you along until something better comes along. Be very careful and watchful until he puts that ring on your finger, otherwise you may lose your heart and your spirit. They call it broken cause you can't fix it.
