Benefits and Value of Sugarcane?

What is the medicinal value of sugarcane and what are its benefits?
Can someone tell me which diseases of the digestive system can be cured through sugarcane?

I think sugars from sugar cane are better for you than sugars from corn (corn syrup) which is so much in sodas made in the US. I don't know why. Maybe the sugar from cane is metabolized more quickly. And the one from corn takes more insulin to metabolize. But many naturopaths believe that corn syrup is the cause of many ills in American health.
