Ok here is the scenario, you have only one TV in the house and none of your mates are down the pub.

Your team is playing in a cup match on TV, but it clashes with the girlfriend or wifes stupid SOAP program which she insists on watching because "its going to be a good one tonight"

You dont have a VCR either as you threw it out a few years back

What do you do lads and ladies?

Toss a coin and the loser has to go elsewhere and watch it.

Either get a friend to record it for you or watch it somewhere else. If the game is that important to you surely you can enjoy it at the pub. You may meet some new locals to support your team with. Either way, let HER have her way. Football always comes with high-lights, you can always see the best stuff another time. If your girl misses her soap you'll never hear the end of it. Just keep her happy, I'm sure she'll show her appreciation ;o)
Another solution for the future is to buy a video/dvd recorder, less than £80 these days.

soaps are normally only half hour so comprise with her. if not go down the pub on your own its alright for guys to do that. or invite some mates round for a few beers then your wife wont make a big fuss with people around. buy her a portable for christmas or tell her to catch the omnibus.

Either go down the Pub and make some new mates

Or put your foot down and watch the football at home - all the 'big' soaps repeat on the digital channels and have 'Omnibus' editions at the weekend.

I would sacrifice the Soap for the footie game or go to my mom's / sister's / friends house to watch it.
It so isn't worth the argument in the scheme of things.

All the soaps are repeated at least twice - so she should really let you watch the match.

Time you got a second tv, I'd say.

Its really a case of give and take. (I like sports personally and often have a bit of a problem putting them on the TV because boyfriends not so keen.) But in this situation I would have said 'OK footie can go on if you buy me a take away!' lol. Soaps are often repeated at weekends, but nothing beats a live footie game!

just let her watch her soap and call your mates and arrange to meet them all down the pub that way you still get to watch the game and your girl will still watch her soap. it's a win win situation.

Go to a pub where they are showing the match.

It'll be more fun anyway.

Get a cheapo VCR for future occassions.

TV sucks, you should do jigsaw puzzes instead.

send all the lads down the pub to watch the match - that way they have endless beer and footie and then missus gets tv all to herself to enjoy with box of chocs
