I have spent several days in the US last year and have a great time there. Right now, I am working in a American consulting company in Beijing. I miss the days in the US so much and would like make friends with people from different culture. Hope it isn't inappropriated.

There is a website www.mylanguageexchange.com. You can search by country and spoken language and find others in Beijing offering English lessons, also a great way to make internet friends if you are not in the same country.

Why don't you go to an english corner to meet foreigners there, there are always people like teachers willing to meet local people and chat in english, and many are also trying to learn mandarin, so it is a win-win.

i agree with u its hard to find someone who can speak english in china, i spent sometime living in china, been all over china, i got some friends by traveling arround, like from Shanghai i went to Guangzhou, i make some friends during my way to Guangzhou... they became good friends, the chinese are mostly seeking the business always, so you can get some friends from busienss community in bejing, i havent been to bejing yet, if you want some english speaking chinese in china, i can provide you, just email me at pakimran@yahoo.com i will give u...

language schools often hire american teachers. branch offices of american companies would be other likely places to find americans.you might also check for expat clubs and associations.
