Some recommendations:

- Picture yourself defeating your opponent.
- Strike through the opponent. Don't aim to strike the face, strike through the face to the back of the head.
- Jab until you calm your nerves. Once you settle into the fight, stick to your combinations.

As you get better, you'll sometimes think you're able to stretch time. What you're actually doing, is shortening your reaction time, providing you with a longer time to respond. This is the 'zone' that fighters allude to.

Also, do as much road work as possible. Jogging is the key to victory. The more you run, the better you'll do.

Finally, breaking your nose doesn't hurt that much. Not getting in the ring hurts a lot more.

Good luck.

Why are a few punches to the face good for you? I can see that the adrenaline rush is nice and probably healthy, but if you care about your face then punches can be problematic =). Anyway your nervousness is completely natural and it is a good thing in my opinion. You should be nervous for things like this and if you try to repress the nervousness this could be damaging to mental health. The best way to combat nervousness is to prepare, prepare, prepare. The better prepared you are, the less nervous you will be. When you feel nervous, react by focusing and thinking of what you must do to do well and improve. You will get less nervous with time but it may never go away. You need to also think about if this kickboxing is right for you. Look for other opportunities that may be wiser choices.

I am a Muay thai Boxer in Hong Kong. My name is George these are what will get in this game. What i think you should do is to pratice more and understand the rules of pain. Kick boxing is not a game for the faint heart person.Having broken nose and punch on the face is the game. You can not Avoid that friend.
All you need to know is that prepare your mind for the fight and accept all that follow it. Pain and otherwise.Trust me you will be fine.
Have more training.

this is why i always tell our mma clients that although tai chi and qigong are internal martial arts, they can be an essential part of your martial arts arsenal..

yes, i love external martial arts as much as the next gal, but internal arts can nicely compliment harder ones. think of it as yin and yang..

you have the strength and aggression and power of external martial arts ie: kickboxing..

but you have the centeredness and deep breathing of internal martial arts ie: qigong or i-chuan...

you can use these arts before a fight and calm your chi and focus your energy to better control your emotions and better perform in the ring..

it's just a thought but i've seen that it really does work for our fighters..

~*good luck*~

Find a place that's a bit easier. Get used to getting hit a bit more lightly, it'll feel like you're taking it too easy. Then you'll probably feel like you're cheating yourself by taking the easy road, and then you'll want to go back to this place, and then... you'll be ready... *music starts playing*... to go the distance! Yeah!
