First, with Bipolar II, you don't experience the extreme psychotic mania of Bipolar 1. Be grateful for that.

I suppose that in India, as opposed to the United States, mental illness carries a bit more of a stigma. Still, if you tell somebody that the medications are to help control your moods, rather than to keep you sane, you are both telling the truth and lessening the impact of having a mental illness.

With Bipolar II, you're not psychotic. You have a constant idea of reality; you simply, when uncontrolled, get more depressed, and a bit 'higher' than the average person. What you need is mood control rather than medication for being crazy.

The only thing to consider is that there is a possibility that, being Bipolar, your offspring may have the same condition. For that reason, among others, it's only fair to tell somebody, before you marry, that you do have this illness.

*hugs* Yes you can still marry anyone can marry and dont think that you arent good enough to!!! Because you are! Dont be ashamed of being bipolar either its not your fault! You didnt ask to be bipolar! You just have to live the best you can with what you got. I think you will find someone out there, who is asking her self the same question of whether she can marry or not. You will find someone. Try looking on the internet, dating websites or myspace. Goodluck :)

First of all being "BiPolar II" is just a label. That is not ALL of who you are. If you had diabetes, would you be asking th same kinds of questions? Secondly, a "girl" does not have to have Bi-Polar II in order to "understand" you. As you date, allow that dating process to just flow. Sooner or later during the dating you'll know the right time to reveal your disorder to her. It sounds like you are having some difficulty in accepting your disorder, so I was very gratified that you mentioned in your question the need to find others with similar disorders. Finding support will be very easy. NAMI is a great place to find information, education, and support. You can check them out at www.nami.org. Their site is full of information on Bi-Polar I and II disorders along with ways to communicate on-line with others who have the same diseases as do you because it sounds like you are so desperately seeking others to UNDERSTAND you. You will find such understanding and care in NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness). I hope that helps. Thanks for being so open in this community of Yahoo! Answers.

You will be able to find someone. I would not tell anyone you are just dating until it gets serious (unless of course they figure it out on there own. This is none of your friends business unless you want it to be there business).
Do tell the girl you get serious with though. This does run in the family, genetics. Always keep your meds filled so you do not run out if you are dating this girl now.
You will be fine! Many people both men and women have this.
On your web browser type in bi-polar, there should be places to go with others with this.
Good luck.....

Well of course you can marry. Some girl maybe accepting of the condition if she finds you lovable. Best to be honest up front and not lie.

Good luck.

of course you can still marry, but you must be honest and share this with your mate, or you will definitely have problems later on, this is a serious condition..and she has to know how to handle the situation when your having problems, don't be scared or ashamed of this, lots of people around the world suffer from this...just be honest, stick with taking your medication, and be as happy as you can..good luck..

Yes, i believe it is possible for you to marry. It is very important, however that you inform anyone you intend to marry of your disorder. This discussion should take place when you are discussing the possibility of children since your condition is hereditary.
