The Bible presents prosperity as something experienced by both the wicked (Jeremiah 12:1) and the righteous. The nation of Israel in the Old Testament was promised material prosperity for obedience. Some churches believe that the church and Israel are the same. If they do, then people say that the church shares in such promises.
The fact that they are prospering, based on Jeremiah 12:1 and other passages doesn't mean that God is prospering them. Sounds like they are involved in a church that I would also label as wacko, but remember, not all Christians are wacko.

Religion is meant to guide people to the light, and good life...There is no harm in becoming a religious person (but a devout religious person) so you would live a quite life, and seek Heaven in the after life
but the most important thing is being serious about it, and not only looking for a good image infront of people...Also, not loosing faith, or going back to atheisim after religion has "done it's job" in making you wealthy or healthy or whatever....Religion is not a game

do you think "christian businesses" are blessed? or are they just using the words to make money. if the former, they don't need to advertise, if they are, they'll get what they deserve when the time comes for them to receive it.
many evangelicals, traveling preacchers, ordinary churches, and small groups are religious strictly for the money. they can make good money, not have to keep records for the irs, and don't pay any taxes since they are exempt from any kind of taxation. their books are not audited, and their fundraising cannot be checked exempt when criminal activity can be shown, as happened with jim and tammy baker's developement. he was imprisoned for fraud because he sold more memberships to some hotel complex than he could fulfil the promise to give rooms to visitors. the feds took him to court and proved he had committed fraud by selling more visitation times than he had rooms to accommodate those who purchased the priveledge to attend. he called them donations to his ministry, but it proved to be illegal.

They're obviously doing it for the wrong reason, then. I believe that nobody can 'become' religious. You can fake being religious, but if you don't feel it, you aren't. Tell your Atheist relatives to follow what's true to them.

what if the two things are totally unconnected, they may have found a belief in God at the same time as starting their business.
the bible says: do not be misled God is not one to be mocked, whatever a man is sowing this he will also reap.
if their faith is superficial God will know, and it won't last very long.

Probably they just realised how good their life is and they are grateful. So, they would like to thanks someone/something for it. God.
Or maybe they just have more time to think of other things besides making ends meet. So they start considering religion.
