In studying various topics about Christianity and Islam over the years I will never forget an article I came across on the topic of racism. It was called: “Children of a White God” and the author was Matthew C. Ogilvie. The very first sentence in his essay was particularly striking.

He writes:

It is common knowledge that Islamic extremism has been associated with numerous terrorist attacks around the world. It remains, though, that racist Christian theologies have also animated violent movements. One key example concerns the Oklahoma City bombing. Bomber Timothy McVeigh has been connected to white supremacist movements such as White Aryan Resistance and the Christian Identity Movement, both of which promote racist theology.

Well, this was news to me at the time. I remembered that the majority of slavery in the United States had been justified by Christians in the past, but certainly, I thought, this was over. I thought this was just the ignorance of poorly educated Christians of old. But as I read the words in this mans essay, I began to realize that indeed, there were several Christian sects who taught racist theologies to this day, and such theologies resulted in countless acts of terrorism in the world.

As seen above, there were two listed Christian groups who taught racism: the White Aryan Resistance and the Christian Identity Movement. The Christian Identity movement is of particular concern. Christian Identity is a collection of churches which teach racist theologies. According to Wikipedia, there are roughly 350,000 members of the Christian Separatist movements.

Wikipedia also states:

A relatively new tenet gaining popularity among some radical Christian Identity believers justifies the use of violence if it is perpetrated in order to punish violators of God’s law, as found in the Bible and interpreted by Christian Identity ministers and adherents. This includes killing interracial couples, abortionists, prostitutes, and homosexuals.

There is a 350,000 member-strong Church that believes killing interracial couples in the name of God in order to punish “violators of God’s law” is a principal doctrine. But the Muslim need not look for cluster bombing in America. No, no, no. There is no need to even wonder if any Christians are being held for years in prison without charge for “security reasons”. There is no call by the U.S. government to wiretap churches. Well, all these things are being perpetrated upon Muslims and in Muslim lands, no such call has been made in America for the Christians. With such a title as the “war on terror” one wonders why there is no “war on Christian terror” but only a “war on Muslim terror”. One wonders why the media isn?t bombarding homes with phrases like ?Christian terrorists? but everyone has heard the term “Muslim terrorists”. A 350,000 member strong terrorist Christian organization running in America, right here at home, and no one bats an eye. Maybe it?s just me, but when I hear that THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE SEE IT AS THEIR GOD GIVEN DUTY TO KILL BLACK PEOPLE and these same people MIGHT LIVE NEXT DOOR?I tend to get a little jittery. This sends shivers up and down my spine. But maybe none of the non-racist Christians, and maybe none of the U.S. Government officials see these 350,000 people as a credible threat?because, let?s be honest?they don?t have weapons of mass destruction like Saddam, right?

Wrong.

Awesome! I read the whole thing, and I can't believe an American feels this way. I am a Muslim, and I have to say you hit the nail on the head! Too right. I didn't always believe what you said. I am also American, and noone wants to feel negative feelings about their country. We all want to love where we come from. Still, lately evidence of so much wrong-doing has surfaced on the part of our government, that I am forced to re-evaluate things. I have studied Islam extensively for thirteen years, and it is a beautiful religion. There's no such thing as racism in Islam. We believe all races are equal. The only religion I've seen so much racism in is Christianity. And I used to be a Christian, so I hope nobody here thinks I am against Christianity. I'm not. True Christianity is beautiful, however, hardly anyone practices it in its pure form any more. And racism? Oh, yeah. Talk about racism. It's so engrained in their heads through their own bible, the book they study and memorize so much that it becomes a part of them, like another leg or body part. It is a racist book. There are no Arab prophets in the bible. Does that make sense? No. There were Arab prophets, black prophets, any number of different nationalities of prophets in history. The people who re-wrote and re-translated the bible took them out upon translating and interpreting them! Yes, that's right. They took them out because they were racists. They wanted the bible to be a white bred book only, and they wanted America to never have any citizens become presidents or have positions of power who were not white. That is why we see there are 350,000 members of this ONE organization. Just one. And how many others are there? Don't think the government is not backing this up. They love it. Christianity is not Christianity any more. Even the Christians who are practicing Christianity are usually pretty racist without even knowing. They don't even know the bible is subliminal. The racism in it enters their sub-conscious so much, that they don't even realize. So what is the biggest threat to this racist idea? Islam. It stands for everything they are against. Unity of all races and nationalities. It stands for peace. That's why they lie about Muslims being terrorists. We are not terrorists. They are the real terrorists, and I'm not referring to Christians, here. I'm referring to our government, which has infiltrated Christianity with so much hatred of races other than lily white. I know a lot of people are going to be pissed at me for saying all this, but it is true. You've been lied to, people.

All racism is a sin against God. He made none of us better than the other.
The racist you speak of will be judged on the day of Judgment by God just as all the rest of us.
I will not defend any racist people who claim to be Christian, for there is no such thing. To be Christian is to live as a man or woman of God, not to think you are better than others, no matter what the color of their skin. They tend to forget that Jesus was a Jew but they hate Jews also. Not just the blacks. The racist groups "hate" all that are not pure white. If they would look into their own blood line, it would be almost a 100 percent chance that there is a different "race" of blood in their veins.
When they bomb or fly planes into buildings that kill over 3000 people, then I guess the other Americans or the government would retaliate.
I don't want to be around. As far as the weapons of mass destruction, I watched a documentary and it showed they have as much , if not more, weapons than the US Army.
Now you tell me, what are we going to do. Americans are killing ourselves.......
GOD HELP US ALL

Huge difference. No Christian I know condones the actions of those radicals, and actually, we speak out against it.
Muslim extremists are few, in comparison to the more moderate Muslims. However, it seems that the Muslims are NOT denouncing the actions of the terrorists nearly as much as they should be.
Those groups you mentioned only put the "Christian" part in their name, because it would probably be a much smaller group if they claimed who they REALLY serve. Can you guess who that is?
They're not Christian, any more than I'm a satanist.
But it is scary that those people are harder to recognize. Too bad they're protected by freedom of speech, so long as they don't actually kill anyone.

I'm pleasently surprised that you haven't received as much Hate Answers as I expected! Good Question by the way, adding the facts and the scary truths most Americans refuse to see on their doorsteps, or as you worded it, next door. Most Americans are pompous by thinking we are superior because of our laws, the "helpful Christian-ness" of our nature, and the fact that we are the most powerful country in the world. People rarely wish to look for things themselved.

I had never heard of the Christian Identity Movement before, but it doesn't suprise me that one exists. I applaud your "aduacity" of saying that Chruches need surveillance. Maybe most of the molestations by Christian/Catholic priests would have never happened, or might have been stopped. Christians are (for the most part) blind to everyone's faults but their own. But, they cannot be blames because they were TAUGHT to think that way.

However it still deeply saddens (and frightens) me that even after this War on Terrorism ends, it will never truly "end." The hatred that has been sown against the Muslims will grow till it is equal with the hatred against the "Pagans," who are just as peaceful and loving as the true followers of Islam are.

During the time Jesus walked this planet Rome was predominant but have you noticed He never "added a touch of hate at Rome'.We cannot right every wrong.
Your comments are slanted because as a country the US has abolished slavery ;white people paid with their lives for that cause.
Are you suggesting that nothing should be done to counter Islamic terrorism?

You are ignoring the facts. These groups have been under US government observation for many years already. They are well known to various agencies around the world.

Why do you want the government to spy on churches? Why not just those they already spy on because they have made violent claims? Most churches don't preach this, and yet you want them all spied on? When will it be that what you believe becomes suspect because someone with similar beliefs to yours says something crazy? Maybe all people should be spied on.

A Christian is a person who fallows Christ and who has a relationship with him. No man who shows hate against another regardless the reason, is a Christian. Many may claim to be Christians even though they are not.

I hope the number 350,000 is inflated. But even if its only 100,000 its still scary.

Unfortunately hate and bigotry are one of those things that is very hard to remove from society, no matter how hard you try.
