The family I babysit for recently had a baby 5 months ago. Since then Rylee (the middle child) has been shoved aside. I used to spend alot of time with her but now when I am there I spend most of the time tending to the baby. I want to spend more time with Rylee but I dont have alot of cash, the babysitting $$ barely covers my gas expenses and 2. So what can I do type of things can I do with Rylee thats cheap and would be fun.

set up a box, get her to help you paint and decorate it when the baby is asleep. Put her name on the box.

Call this box her activity box, and once a day...at the start set up an activity for the day in the box. this could have her fav toy, dolls, ingredients to make a cake, leaves collected to make a collage, paints, pencils, cars, blocks, her dolls clothes with a little tub and liquid soap and some pegs (to wash the clothes), (the possibilites are endless)....with stuff she already has.

When the baby is asleep, or settled bring out the activity box, and ask her to open the box and see if she can guess what today's activity is...turn it into a game. Then do the activity you have set up, with her. She will love it, and it will be her way of knowing that she is guaranteed that special time every day.

the activities don't have to be time consuming, and after a while you may find you don't need to constant reminder anymore.

Also, get her to help with the chores you have to, and help with the baby...4 year olds love helping and it would be involving her. this said, you need to make sure that she has special time every day. Make sure she knows, that you have 2 arms and 2 legs, so you can give 2 cuddles (awkward at first, but it does work).

I had my children 21 months apart, and this was an idea I grabbed from a kids show and it worked brilliantly.

What a good babysitter you are to be worried like this.:)

You can take her out to the playground one day when you dont have the baby and play around, and bring a camera with you. Take some pictures of yall playing and get them developed. All you need to buy now is the following items :
- multi color Construction paper
- crayons or markers or both
- hole puncher
- glue
- glitter
- tape
- and some old ribbons
The next time when you babysit let her make a scrap book af all the fun things yall did that day. Let her be creative and draw pictures of her and the baby, you, her parents and any other relatives that she want. Everytime you babysit, let her draw out all the fun things she did and add it on to her scrap book. Still take pictures from time to time, but it can get expensive trying to get them developed so let her be creative and draw them too. Hopes this help. Have fun!!!!!!!

Give Rylee lots of cuddles, talk with her about all the things she likes, begin a scrapbook and record all of her favourite things that you do together, let her help you with the baby too, she will feel very special about that.
Bought things are easily pushed aside, happy memories are kept with you for a lifetime.

Coloring was fun for me until I was like....8. Anyway, you guys can have a fashion show with her mom's clothes or your clothes. Chutes and Ladders was a simple and fun game. Also, make games out of simple, menial tasks. For example, who can dry the most dishes or put away the toys the fastest.

Go to the neighborhood park and have a picnic, bake cookies or cupcakes together, rent a movie, take her shopping to get holiday gifts for her parents (I'm sure they would give you money for this), or you could probably find some cool arts and crafts projects online.

My 4 yr old loves to play dress up and have make up on. Get some old dresses from the thrift store or old brides maid dresses that are hanging in friends closets. We put them on and let her have make up on like a princess. She then spins around and asks how she looks.
