This may not be a simple pimple, not in the usual term of acne vulgaris. In the armpit, these things are often sebaceous cysts.

You may find it difficult to help her. The help she needs is most probably going to involve her seeing a doctor. She should eventually get to see some form of doctor with a bit of a surgical skill who can take the thing out. It is a little bit more involved than an incision and drainage.

Encourage her to see a doctor. If she tries to do it herself or if you try to squeeze it in the way many people do, you may get some of the yucky stuff out from the inside of the cyst but you will predispose to infection and to recurrence of the cyst.

Please read the wiki pages I have listed below. They have good information about what may be going on here.

Hmm..how big is big? If it isn't obscenely huge, then it is most likely an ingrown hair. These look just like pimples, and are very common (especially if your friend shaves under her arms). However, there are many lymph nodes there and such so it may be a good idea to see a doctor --ESPECIALLY if it increases in size. Strange enlarging growths are never a good thing. Otherwise, well, I'd just treat it like any other pimple. You know, put a warm cloth on it for a few minutes every once in a while, don't pick at it,..etc. It should go away on its own in a couple of days. Good luck!

there are many pores in the armpit. They can get full of bacteria, and even deodorant and become inflamed and sore, like a pimple. If it large and hot she should go to a doctor to have it lanced. If it is small she can try placing a very warm damp cloth to the area over and over for an evening. Put neosporin on it at bedtime. Pop it if it has a head, and apply more neosporin.

Could be something as simple as an ingrown hair or razor burn depending how big. There are cysts that can grow there and may have to be lanced. If it is that big of a concern or painful, she needs to talk to her parents or Doctor.

It could be what used to be called a 'boil' and it needs treatment.

It can be lanced and the underlying fluid drained but this should be done by a health professional.

how can this happen? well it's a place were dirt and sweat accumulate and clog pores, also if she isn't shaving right it could be an ingrown hair. nothing really she can do but get a proper razor and change the blades more frequently and try to keep her underarms dry ...
