What would recommend? Try to clean it with an at home treatment, or take him to the vet? Anyone know of a good vet that has affordable prices around Lakewood CA, b/c the last vet we took him to gave us an estimate of 1200 just to clean out the already ruptured abcess.

Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Hi there...Some abscesses heal without treatment if the white blood cells are able to destroy the invading cells. The active source of continued infection will be eliminated and the body will slowly absorb the pus that was created during the battle to destroy the invading material.

Frequently, though, abscesses do not heal without treatment and veterinary care is recommended to minimize further infection/damage from the initial abscess.

Most commonly, abscesses are related to a recent cat fight or other penetrating puncture wound. These should be treated by your veterinarian.

U NEED TO LISTEN TO ME THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT U GET THIS INFORMATION OF WHY THIS HAS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF THE PROPER WAY AND THE SOONER THAT U DO THIS, THE SOONER THE INFECTION AND WOUND WILL HEAL THE PROPER WAY
U SHOULD NOT PLAY AROUND AND WAIT FOR THIS TO GO AWAY ON IT'S OWN, BECAUSE IT WILL NOT, JUST TRUST ME I SHOULD BE THE FIRST PERSON TO KNOW ABOUT ABCESS'S

if it has busted open, then u have to take it to the vet, even if it hasn't busted open

there is a infection in the absecess called
"staph" this could ruin alot of tissue if it is not taken care of the correct way and properly

they will have to lance it, meaning cut it open to get the rest of the infection out, then they will have to pack it with gauze.

the reason why they pack it with gauze is to keep the wound open so the infection will drain, it will take anywhere from 2-10 weeks for it to completely heal

u must keep the area clean, and dry
the vet will prescribe a antiboitic for the cat

i will only know this information because i have absecces under my arm pits and i get them alot

after the 2nd one that i had, i knew the drill

u seariously need to get medical attention for this cat, or the problem becomes worse, the cat could loose his/her whole entire tail

staph is a very nasty infection, and cause alot of damage if it is not taken care of

u will have to go back to the vet to have the packing removed properly, if u try to do this yourself, u will run the risk of possibly leaving some of it behind

to be honest there is no correct home remedy to treat this type of infection

I'm not sure why he or she would have a ruptured abscess or really even what it is but my cat got bite by a possum one time and i didn't know till i saw her licking a wet looking spot i went to rub her and puss came out this was about 3 am my friends boyfriend was at the house and started pressing on it and washing it out with a warm wash cloth i was mad because i was on the phone with the vet getting him to meet me at the clinic when i got there i felt really bad for yelling at my friends bf because the vet told me i had done a really good job of cleaning it out and just put her on some antibiotics so if it is anything like that then i would say get all the puss out wait till morning call vet ask for antibiotics

It really depends on the wound. You can absolutely heal an abcess or wound at home. It needs to be flushed with warm water and an anticeptic. Most important, it needs to be kept open so it can drain. You need to keep squeezing the pus out and keep it clean and dry. Check out wellvet.com. According to them, using antibiotics is a "western medicine" treatment and "useless". It is a great homeopathic site. Click under"cats" then articles then it lists articles alphabetically. Look under abcesses.

Take your cat ideal away to the closest humane society and tell them you have no longer have been given the money to take her to the vet and that i'm getting the effect your are saying that your mom desires to do away along with her. The cat is probable in particularly some soreness and this would desire to be dealt with ideal away. attempt to be very careful once you p.c.. her up and detect a particularly great field to place her in somewhat of a cat provider on account which you do no longer % her to hit the sore tail. placed a sparkling blanket or white towel interior the field. The Humane Society might probable supply the cat the scientific care it desires. this would be a tragic twist of destiny and the little factor is probable particularly disillusioned. do no longer wait too long to take her to get help. in case you get her fastened up and your mom shall we her stay then you definately would desire to be very careful interior the destiny. Cats % particularly some care the comparable way a infant might and this might make your cat a splash aggravating for a mutually as. Be very mushy and type to her, they % and % particularly some love. desire you get this appeared after honey. let us know.

An abscess is a an accumulation of inflammatory exudate that is full of dead white blood cells (exudate helps to dilute irritant substances in the tissue and delivers WBC which help fight the infection) Try using a hot compress. It is best though to take it to your vet as they often need to be drained, as they sometimes continue to grow they will erupt. I don't recommend trying to fix this at home as they can be very painful and can cause secondary infections. Not to mention the smell and if it does erupt it will weep and it will be everywhere.

Try calling your vet to see what they recommend. I know that my vet now is great about helping you avoid unnecessary visits and trauma to the animal. However, if your vet is not so inclined, try bringing him into a pet store and see what they have to say. But most of all use your better judgement. If you try some advice given to you, and it doesn't show some sort of immediate improvement, bring out the checkbook. Its better to pay for good news, than wind up with bad.

Good luck!

Not only do I recommend you take him to the vet, you are legally REQUIRED to provide medical care for your pet. This shouldn't even be a question. Take your poor cat to the vet--you've already let this go WAY too long.

Contact your local SPCA to ask about low cost veterinary clinics.

Take it to a vet. Or rid yourself of the cat cause vets are expensive but so are infected cats.
