it's a very important day for those of latino heritage. it's known as the day of the dead. i think it comes on nov 1 but i'm not sure. like halloween, it's a day of festivities and rememberance of family and friends who have passed away.

Yes. Dia los muertos is a cultural way of remembering family and friends who have passed away. By doing so, the person does not truly "die", as his/her memory continues to live, even if it is only once per year. It is also a time of families to get together and share stories and memories of the past and the people they love. To the participants of this holiday, one never dies until they are forgotten. When forgotten, that is the worst type of death, because it is the most "final" type.

I don't see why it shouldn't! It doesn't harm anyone and it brings family and friends together to remember loved ones. It's not like its mandatory to celebrate it, but it is the fact that brings people together that should count.
