I am going to school to be a teacher. I am a junior and am tutoring a 5th grade boy as a requirement for one of my classes. One of my teachers gave my name to a local school as an available tutor. I have an interview with the counselor at the school to go over details. The child she wants me to tutor is in 8th grade. She said he needs help in math for sure, and possibly in other areas as well. My question is, I don't know how much I should ask for. In case it matters, I live in mid-west Illinios.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I do not get paid for the tutoring I am doing now. What I am asking is, another school wants to employ me as a tutor.

If your sure you even get paid for your "class project" then ask what your state minimum wage is or alternatively what you get paid at your other job.
