Your lips are healing. Leave them alone and they should be fine in another week or so. Try a little medicated chapstick a few times a day if it's very bothersome. This will help moisten the dead skin that is trying to shed itself.

Use a non-flavored lip balm, petroleum jelly or even a skin moisturizer to heavily coat the lips. These products help to both moisturize the lips and prevent them from drying out.
Avoid flavored lip-balms. They can be more fun and certainly taste better, but also give you an excuse to keep licking your lips, making them wear off quickly.
Remove the dead skin by rubbing a wet, warm washcloth over your lips to gently loosen the flakes. You may need to do this more than once as your lips heal.

Try wearing a Band-Aid while you sleep or when you're alone. A few nights of this and your lip will be healed! Add some Neosporin for double the effect, and stop picking at it. Chew some gum, learn to juggle, but keep your hands and teeth off.

I think that there's nothing to worry about, just use some facial cream every time you feel your lips dry. This will prevent them from skin shedding, they will have a nice healthy appearance and the cream will prevent you frm biting them, because most of the time it has a great aroma, but its taste is alwful:)
That was my way of dealing with this nasty habit, my lips were bleeding from time to time from my biting aggression:)
You'll be fine don't worry:)

First......u shouldn't have dpone what u did to your lips.
Second.....u had abused your lips too often n too long..... n the lip gentle tissues may have gone 'hay-wire' by the over-stimulation. They r trying to defend themselves...... by shedding, falking, etc.
Third.......go get some medical help & professional advice. Its a small fee to pay to get the right remedy. I'm sure u dont fancy looking like the Africa woman with a big flat disc of a lower lip! or some other form of deformity! It will not be too decorative to the rest of your face.....for sure!!!
So......one.....two....three....I've given u a sound tip.
Dont wait.....get your lip attended to.......n promise yourself never to abuse it again!
take care!

It may just be the healing process, which does take more than a week. Check your lips: swollen? does it hurt to touch them? unusual redness? are they bleeding or oozing pus? these are signs of infection to watch for.
keep your lips coated with plain chap-stick or even vaseline until they are healed. if no signs of infection, and if you haven't torn open a gaping wound, I think you would be safe to watch them. if it hurts to eat, or seems to get worse, call the doc.
good for you for quitting that habit!

I think you may be right about the healing but try some medicated chapstick with aloe in it and if you don't feel like you have some positive results in a week, call your local urgent care and tell them your situation whether or not they think it is ok.
