take your cpu to a computer service place ASAP, it will cost you but it's worth it. I had trojan a few weeks ago, it's VICIOUS! don't use the internet until it's fixed.

I had AVG until a year ago when my son started using my space and limewire frequently. Eventually my computer was hijacked. A screen came up that wouldn't even let me et to the bios. The hijackers waned 49.95 or they would publicize my files and destroy my data. I tried everything, even got a quote of 179 from the geek squad, but this program called the doctors suite, I think got me unhighjacked for 29 bucks. I have since invested in Panda titanium 2007 the anti-virus Fry's electronics chooses as there best bet to minimize this problem. I haven't had a virus or major problem when running panda in the 2 years I've owned it. They're a bit overcautious but better safe then sorry.

Try antispywares programm rather than the antiviruses.
some good antispywares are : counterspy and spyware doctor.
u can download a trial version from download.com.

However, if u are an advanced user and are familiar with dos prompt ... u should try this:
note down the location of the trojan as shown by the antivirus programm u r using. Boot ur com with windows xp cd.
u will soon find a tool called Recovery console. Its similar to command prompt. u can delete the trojan from here using
dos comands .

I also faced this problem. AVG seems not be effective with the current trojan. What is happening is activex controls are deactivated. JAVA runtime is being removed from your system. Thus you are crippled and even if you try to go to trendmicro website and run the online virus scanner it is not working. You have to first install the java runtime once again on your system. Go to IE tools menu and advanced and restore default values. Now go to the trendmicro.com and run housecall ( online virus scanner) now this will work and all the infections will be removed from your computer. Before doing all this even clean your registry using nortons windoc so that some illegal registry values will also be removed enabling housecall to work properly.

difficult, because i cant see what files are infected etc. sometimes using different software you can get the name of the infected file and delete it in safety mode. somewhere you should be able to find the trojan name, when it comes up, try a few things in google. for instance if its called trojanB, you would type "antivirus for trojanB" into google. otherwise "spybot" seems to be ok. if you have the name of the virus it makes life so much easier. im surprised it got past AVG though. not sure, i need more info.
i would think about what private T said aswell, dont download anything you dont know. most of it is spam and ineffective
Sorry i just have to re-iterate in capitals, DONT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING YOU DONT KNOW

Restore discs sent with your computer will wash everything away and make it seem as if your computer is new. If you can save any information onto disc just make sure you're not transferring the virus. good luck.
