Many possibilities Kiki.
1. If it is a stone (astrological) then it means that he believes in it
2. If it is Iron - (made from hooves of a black horse), it means that he had a tough time in the past and is attributing it to Saturn.
3. If it is metal (gold /silver), he likes to wear it that way - an indication of taste and choice. (maybe the ring was gifted and does not fit any other finger)
4. If it is a weeding band, he does not know the right finger to wear it. (or he has slimmed down a lot after marriage and it now fits his middle finger only)

I Don't think its a wedding ring for two reasons 1: its on the wrong finger 2: most rings for marriage for men aren't like that but if your thinking of dating this guy i suggest you find out as much as possible before you go after him
