For apple martinis, you could rim them with crushed graham crackers. . . kinda makes them seem more like apple pies!

I put sugars on flavored margaritas (such as strawberry).
It doesn't really need to be flavored, since that might detract from the drink.
But if you put a cup of sugar in a ziplock bag and add a few drops of food dye (like for Easter eggs) and work the sugar around in a closed bag, you can get some really nice looking sugars.
I do the same thing when I want the special colored sugars for King's cake at Mardi Gras.
If you just want something quick to buy, I would suggest the colored sugars sold for decorating cookies.

I like this question and can help you to achieve the effect you want. If you live in the USA the stores sell Raw Sugar it comes in a brown paper sack. Buy some of the sugar and vanilla beans, orange, lemon, lime, some extracts (buy the ones that will go with drinks) and some cotton balls. You will need some airtight containers for storage. Pour some of the raw or coarse sugar and a split vanilla bean, do the same with each of the peels and with the extracts put a few drops on each cotton ball along with the sugar. These need to sit for about a week to infuse the sugar with their scent and flavor, you can also use powdered sugar and cocoa powder, I saw it on some show about drinks. There you have it flavored sugars. I hope that I was some help.

You can grind candy in different flavors, for example peppermint or butterscotch - and use it to rim the glass.
You can also try flavoring the sugar to give it another level of flavor.
For vanilla sugar, just drop a vanilla pod inside your sugar bowl.
For orange sugar, use orange juice to rim the glass then cover with sugar, or combine orange peel with the sugar to rim the glass.

Use juices to wet the rim and then sugar or salt it, you'll get flavored sugar/salt.
