My in-laws once served dry, stringy turkey and stuffing that looked like it was run through a blender...bubbles were even rising to the surface. Instead of mashed potatoes, they did sliced potatoes rolled in tomato sauce and onions....and dessert was a cherry jello ring with chopped black olives inside! A vat of mayonaisse was the garnish...WTF?

Some people just can't cook and they don't even know it. The only thing worse than an overcooked dry as dust turkey is an undercooked one. It is still pink inside. Ewww. My mother in law used to make this horrible stuffing that looked and tasted like oatmeal. Everything was overcooked. And she would buy a sheet cake, poke holes in it and pour Jell-O over it so that it seeped into the cake. Those meals were just incredibly bad.

god, you poor thing.
my mum tries really hard, but she just can't cook. she cremates!

the meat is always overcooked and dry, vegies are cooked way too long, there's probably no nutrients left in them.

she once tried to do a stirfry, first she cooked a whole chicken breast, she didn't even cut it or anything, just chucked it in a wok, then took it out and chopped it. The she cooked some tinned vegetables in about a cup of oil (no exaggeration there) for about 20 minutes. then she took those out and put them on a plate, and put the now cold chicken over the top. no stirfry sauce, noodles, nothing. it was disgusting. we got mcdonald's on the way home, which tasted a lot better.

the sad thing is, she thinks she's a great cook, but we don't have the heart to tell her the truth, and besides, she's extremely easily offended and we would have hell to pay if we did say anything.

Oh my, that certainly doesn't sound tasty to say the least. How ever did you keep a straight face.

In our college years, I remember a LOT of mac and cheese holiday meals. And of course the decor was early American grad student.

I haven't had mac and cheese in years, but after hearing about the menu from your Thanksgiving, mac and cheese sounds pretty appealing.

Sorry. Hope you are cooking this year.

Peace.

My worst holiday meal was when I was deployed with the Army. It didn't matter that they had turkey or pumpkin pie for us...I just wasn't with my family. As bad as the food can be, at least your with some people who love you.

However I do have to agree that this meal did not sound super appetizing.

Furthermore...I do actually think this is an extremely funny question.

Ewww... My uncle made a hickory smoked turkey, but forgot to add the flavouring.. it ended up tasting like a giant greasy ashtray.

He also served some sort of potatoes that had fish in it. It was discusting.

i ate these green beans and carrots once that were glazed in some kind of odd, sticky coating that hardened by the time it was cooled down enough to eat. it was nasty, and the potatoes were the kind from a box, that were probably never real food in the first place. it was pretty bad.

New Years. My Grandmother-in-law made a meat loaf that cooked with ketchup and had ketchup on the top. She served it with a green bean casserole with fried onions on the top. I couldn't believe how nasty it was.

My friend invited us over for Thanksgiving - and she didn't thaw her turkey out all the way, so when she cut it - it was cooked for about the first inch in and then it was bloody raw. IT was the grossest thing we had ever seen. I didn't think my youngest son would ever eat turkey again. URP!
