i agree with you, dear asker.
if you study the life of Christ, you can only make one of three conclusions about Him:
Either He:
1.) claimed to be God, yet knew He wasn't, that would make Him a liar
2.) thought He was God, but didn't know He wasn't, and that would make Him a lunatic.
3.) Proclaimed Himself to be God, and actually was/is God, and that would make Him Lord ;-)
i mean, if Jesus were faking His messiahship, He sure went out the hard way, b/c His teachings contradicted the messianic expectations of the time. if He was trying to be the messiah they expected, He sure did a lousy job. the Messiah He was and the messiah they expected were so different that they missed the point completely. they actually crucified Him b/c He claimed to be God!
The deity of Jesus is the ''great divide'' between christianity and gnosticism, cults, etc. all cults will try and deny the Deity of Jesus. it's also the divider between christianity and islam. Muhammed did not die for you, and he was not sinless.

First before we discuss other people's religion, we must respect the other people's religion even if we do not agree with their belief system. Therefore when we say something about other people's religion, we should use polite words. This is what is call in religion as morality or ethic.
As to your question or opinion, my view is this:
I believe Jesus exists. He is a good and wise man. He was choosen by the supreme God as His messenger or prophet with one main duty is to teach people that there is God; He is real and exist.
The three major religions, namely, Islam, Christians and Judaism acknowledge that Jesus is a very special person. However religion such as Islam teaches that Jesus is only a man or normal human being with special qualities. He was never a God or a son of God. He was only choosen by God to be His messenger.
From the Islamic perspective, Jesus never lied. As from Islamic historical point of view and supported by the holy scripture (the Holy Quran), Jesus never said he was the son of God (at least not in its literal meaning).
According to Islamic teaching, if the other holy scriptures (such as the Bible) has mentioned that Jesus has said he is the son of God, then one possible reason for this is because of the error in translation. We should know and understand that the present Bibles are mostly in English [which is a translation only because the original Bible is in Aramic (one of the dialects of the Jews)]. The actual meaning of the Holy Bible (in Aramic) may lost its original meaning when translated into Greek, then German, then English.
In summary, if you do not believe that Jesus is not the son of God, you should not accuse him of being a liar before studying the his history, not just from the Christian teaching but from other sources such as Judaism and Islamic teachings.

This is the conundrum posed by CS Lewis.
He left a little something out tho: A possibility is..."myth"
You're counting on those 4 books, Matthew Mark Luke and John to be abstolutely perfect in what they say about him. And ...check it out yourself, they aren't.
They conflict horribly about the most imporant event ever to Christians. The resurrection. They disagree about WHO went to the tomb, WHEN they went, WHY they went, WHO was there (men or angels), HOW many (1 or 2), WHERE they were, WAS the stone rolled away. There are around 30 discrepencies.
I'm going with ... myth.
BTW, I read your question here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlsIeQz4GzH3zcY9i8wmKYHsy6IX?qid=20061108132453AAI2gJj and I think we could really use more christians like you around here :)

none of the ones you mention.
i think he was just a simple guy with a good philosophy whose story was taken and altered by the bunch of control freaks who invented christianism.
i think he never intended or even imagine to be the main character in a fictional book.
so whethear he was crazy or not, is not the point.
the point is that hundreds of years after his death (so nobody could remember exactly what happened) the biggest hoax of the world was written about his existance.

Your question shows the limited understanding you have. Jesus Christ , the Messiah, is mentioned in many different parts of the Bible. Way before e His birth , many Prophets mentioned his coming. A more informed question would have not just included Jesus Christ but many others who also believed and had faith in what He said and what he was.

Jesus is normal person who have some ESP powers. those powers can be generated by anyone by deep meditation. if there have steady god or his son, why good people suffer? if you are a main god, do you allow to give suffer for good & innocent person for just test his devotion? I accept Karma, but it also can be change by power of mind.

i agree TOTALLY!!!!!! your question rocks!i would say he is a liar who claimed to be the son of god. that verse that says something like..pray/ask and it shall be given? then why cant a little girl with no legs start growing legs? why cant we find a cure for aids and cancer without the aid of science? why cant world hunger be no more??? these arent even greedy prayers! and yet they are all unanswered. even the most devoted christian will pray about these and nothings going to change.

I was brought up Catholic to just Believe what he is and what he represents. However, after the age of 7, I couldn't grasp the whole mythical birth, died and rose from the dead, etc. theories without proof. That is me. There ARE many people who have FAITH and by definition, they can believe in something even though it defys logic. It is their faith that keeps them going, and honestly, I wish I wasnt as cynical, I could use some faith in my life.
