Use FareChase, they search dozens of websites for you, so you dont have to!!! It saves time and money!!!
Or type "flights from Sacramento to Lubbock" on Yahoo's search, and fill the search form that comes up!!!
Not sure when you are flying, but I found prices as low as $288.

I fly constantly (several times a month, mostly for work) and always book my own air travel. Over the last couple hundred times I've flown, I have ALWAYS found the cheapest flight directly on the airline's website. I always check sites like expedia and travelocity to compare prices, then I find the airline with the cheapest flight, and go to that airline's website and book the ticket there... I always get exactly the same price. Plus, if you buy directly from the airline, you don't pay a booking fee which most of those sites charge (it's usually $5 or more). Plus most airlines now guarantee that you will find the lowest fare directly through them (on their website).

Also check Southwest Airlines. Usually when I fly, they're not the cheapest option, but it's worth checking anyway. They don't list their fares on any other sites like expedia so the ONLY way to book on them is through their website.

Yes, currently there's a $279 roundtrip fare with America West for departures by December 13. If you know your travel dates, try BookingBuddy which searches over 40 sources including Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Mobissimo, Kayak, Sidestep, individual airline websites... and more, with just one input of cities and dates. It's a real time-saver. Once you use it to track down the best offer, then try to book direct from the airline's own website.

It depends on the dates. Go to www.airgorilla.com and put in the dates, and it will give you a list of all the airlines and the prices for each one. Good lick.

Go on travelocity, expedia, hotwire and browse the results.
Then go straight to the company websites and compare the prices.

Travelocity and Orbitz work best for me.
And priceline lets you name your own price but I haven't tried it yet.
Good luck!
