I will have realized that:
- Some people really hate evolution.
- Some people couldn't pass a logic class for the life of them ("I can't prove God? Well, you can't disprove it!!")
- Atheists are a lot more respectable than people give them credit for. (Seriously, show me a more selfless act than an atheist doing a good deed, not thinking for a minute that there's any reward waiting for them in the afterlife or any impressed deity looking down on them. People always say atheists are bitter and lonely and horrible people, but really, they don't get nearly enough credit.)
- All faiths have their positives and negatives -- there's no exception.
- WSIDR rules the universe.

I do not see any reason to leave a section for good but I have learned already that there is more intolerance than I expected and that some people have some very strange beliefs. I also see there are many many more who are more patient and considerate of people who differ in belief system.
I hope the Yamster removes the meanest posts so people will stop spewing hate. The only section that is as polarized is the politics one.
I have found some great answers from people who have 360 pages and I have favorited a few. Also some good links to web pages I never heard of, but some may not be very reliable sources.
The number one thing I have learned is to consider the source and evaluate its merrit. Don't accept a statement at face value.

Sadly, I haven't seen much in the way of Spiritual discussion. Some, certainly. But there's so many inflammatory questions attacking one faith or another.
Now granted, I'm snide and sarcastic myself sometimes, but the level of downright hatred I've seen here from all sides is disconcerting. The goading and the jabbing. It's so counterproductive. Not to mention immature.
And I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but it's somehow worse coming from the Christians. Apparently as nonbelievers we're immoral and unworthy, so it's to be expected from us. We don't have a set moral compass to follow. But if you devote your life to a religion that supposedly preaches ethics, morals, and love...you really shouldn't be flaming and hating on people. The "I can't wait until you burn in hell!" retorts are distasteful in a large way and only go to cement the bad feelings that the different groups feel for each other.
I'm here because I'm curious about the different sides of the debate. But there's not much debate here. There's lots of quotes and lots of mudslinging and a crapload of smugness.
I can't say that if they closed this section tomorrow I'd take away much that would be positive.

Speaking for my part, I should not have any challenge with faith while its invited. By signing in right here and posting questions and solutions, I am creating a robust assertion that devout individuals can engage with me approximately faith. What I do not desire is uninvited faith in my lifestyles. In addition, its patently transparent that a few devout individuals effectively would possibly not go away the difficulty of non-perception / atheists on my own. That is fine as it's their correct however its additionally mine to reply again (which I experience doing). Many of the questions published listed below are satire or polemic. I for my part discover so much of them foolish however mostly they're sensible. Its reasonable to mention they do as an alternative detract from a significant Q&A web site wherein you'll reap expertise. Thats one topic. For the truth individuals would possibly discover them insulting, the choices are being a record monkey or becoming a member of a web site wherein you'll kick individuals off for being insulting.

I feel that I have grown in the knowledge that I have acquired in carefully researching the answers that I give. I feel strengthened by the Christian brothers and sisters that I have encountered on this site. But most of all, I feel saddened at the alarming number of lost souls who would gladly spit in the face of the holy God that gave them life. Even before I was born again, I had a reverence for a God that I thought I knew (but didn't exist). Now that I truly know Him, it breaks my heart to read such blasphemy.
Please understand, I am not speaking in absolutes. I have seen Christians questions/answers that lack love and kindness; and I have seen Atheist questions/answers that show incredible kindness and respect. I enjoy this forum and do not plan to leave it anytime soon.
"for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever."

i dont need to leave the RS to know that I've gotten a lot more bitter and sarcastic. What can people take away from this experience? Probably hatred from all these muckrakers who ask loaded questions like "i love God why are you such a sinner?" or "I hate God why are you so retarded?" type crap. Everyone is entitled to their belief, this section is about broadening your horizons and teaching others about acceptance not attacking them for their own beliefs.

I will have left with a greater understanding of human nature and their beliefs in religion and spirituality.
I will leave with a hope that I had done no harm here....everyone was aware that this site was for debating all aspects of R & S.
I will leave with memories of some very very insightiful, humorous, kind, loving people.
Peace!

When I finally quit this website, I'll have gained the following:
A never ending amazement at the faithful's ability to rationalize fact and fiction,
A greater fear of fundamentalists and the danger they pose to logical beings everywhere,
A stronger conviction in why seperating church and state is the only logical decision,
A greater appreciation for any logical, analytical, and critical thinking person.

I'm under the assumption that you do not "pass on" until you have "learned your lessons on this earth", unless you meet an untimely demise in which case, you will be reincarnated and return to continue your education until your soul is worthy to move out of the earthly plane.

I have asked many questions in an effort to learn. I know more about Buddhism, Hindu, Wicca, and people since I started. There has been good and bad. Just like life.
