I am an apple farmer and you come to me for work, my task is simple I have 10 saplings that need to be planted but they must be planted in 5 rows and each row consisting of 4 saplings...how would you do that?

I would plant two rows of 4 saplings, then plant the remaining two, an go to the first row and dig up two to replant them on row 3. I would dig up the other two for the forth row, with two from the second row. the last two of the second row would be added to two from the third row to creat the 5th row.
Hey, you didn't say they had to remain planted!

You take two original saplings plant in each row and break 2 sprigs off each original that will give u 4 in each row...I tried

I don't think it can be done with 10 apple saplings & 5 rows.
I've tried all sorts of combinations but none work.
I know I'll kick myself when I learn the answer!

Its a 5 pointed star with all the points interconnected. You can also do six rows from twelve in a similar fashion

How would I do that? I wouldn't. I wouldn't plant apples, I'd get a gardener to do it and make them work it out for themself.
