There has to be some degree of faith involved with anything. For example. You can either believe your doctor is telling you the truth or you can spend all the money and time to go to medical school and learn for yourself. And beyond that, you can not trust what the text books say and perform all the tests and experiments yourself to see if what is in there is truth. It is endless.
You can either be paranoid or trust it's true.

The same goes with the bible. I can be paranoid and think that it is faulty. But, I need some degree of faith to assume it is not.

I have been following the words and standards of the bible for 14 years now and it has proven itself true through everything. And I mean everything from how people behave to concequences of actions.
So, there's no reason for me to believe that it is not the true Word of God. It is not one book, but 67 books put together over a 4,000 year period. What's really amazing is that people who never knew each other wrote about the same thing in agreement and back each others words up. Man is not that intelligent to create a 4,000 year long conspiracy without error. It has to be God.

As for your statement that people of previous generations were not educated, I would have to seriously disagree. What evidence do you have that supports this? Do you think that just because we have computers and machines that we are more intelligent?
Don't be so arrogant to think that we are more intelligent today.
Did you know the bible spoke of a few things that scientists only discovered in the last century? It wasn't until the 1950's, that springs were discovered under the oceans. The bible talked about them 4,000 years ago.
The bible also talks about the earth being round, your blood is your source of life, and how weather forms.
People used to believe the earth was flat, bloodletting was a cure for disease and that weather formations were demonic. If they would have just read the bible, they would have learned all that wasn't true.

If you google "Ica stones" you can find stones from an ancient civilization that depicts domestication of dinosaurs, brain surgery, airplanes and electricity. So, ancient man was certainly not dumb. You need to do more research before you make a statement like that.

You have an interesting bio on your site. If you really want to do something positive, then you should try understanding what Jesus really taught. You cannot preach wisdom unless you know wisdom. You cannot know true wisdom until God reveals it to you.

No to first part . Godly men penned the scriptures as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The prophecies of the scriptures are always fulfilled 100% correct. There was never any room for error that is why you can trust the word of God as truth. These are not Jean Dixon type prophecies, some right some wrong the Bible is always right. There were hundreds of prophecies written in the OT re Christ. He fulfilled 29 in one day. No other religion can make such a claim re prophecies. I know as an atheist you don't want to buy it but thems the facts !

Honestly no. But I see ur point. If we can't say we believe someone when they say God is speaking through me, then how can u believe the bible which is based on many people saying that.Very good question. I wouldn't believe it because I will probably think the person is a nut job, because u really don't hear of it and u always question or riducle things u can't explain. As for the bible I don't follow it verbatim. I focus on the valuble lessons u can get out of it. Like how to live a simple and enlighten life.

More than likely I would say no. I don't believe God is speaking to man as much in a audible voice. That can be found in the old testament and early new testament scripture. The bible is the fulfillment of God's instruction to mankind. Therefore watch those charlatans like Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar and etc. Who come with some new revelation from God or their false god they may be hearing from. God will us as vessels to speak on what is already written. All Glory and Honor to God.

If someone said that to me right now, whatever they said would have to line up and agree with what is written in the word of God. I believe the Bible is the Word of God because it speaks absolute Truth to my spirit and mind. I have found Peace in it, Salvation in it, Redemption in it. I have found no flaws in it. More people have tried to disprove the Bible than any other book, and it has overcome all. I believe it is true by faith in the Author, and by the testimonies of those whose life's He has changed.

Yes, I believe the Holy Spirit speaks through men or women, I have heard God speak to me through my pastor. The bible says to test the spirits, so if you don't think what you hear is true. You need to pray and ask God about it. He will let you know.

The bible encourages to "test the spirit". God does speak through people today but if someone soais to me "God said......." I would test the spirit of the person talking, I would see if what they say lines up with the word of God and pray about it. If they get three out of three I would consider believing them.

Not if the words conflicted with those God has said to me!

I guess it would depend on what you said thereafter. But my rule of thumb is that usually, if someone says they are a prophet, 99% of the time, that means they are not.

If someone said that to me....I would ask them to go to Betty Ford clinic.....I told my mom that, and she has been there for years......That, plus crack.
