Hi There
Here are some answers and an action plan.
Causes of Bladder Infection
The primary cause of bladder infection is bacteria that are unable to be eliminated from the urinary tract. The problem is not due to bacteria getting in to the urinary tract, but to bacteria not being able to get out.
Menopause can increase the risk of bladder infection developing because, during menopause, levels of the hormone estrogen decline in the body, making it easier for bacteria to stick to the lining of the urinary tract.
Preventing Bladder Infection
In order to prevent bladder infection, women should do the following:
Avoid urinating after intercourse until necessary. Full urination enables the body to more effectively eliminate bacteria from the urinary tract.
Consider your choice of contraceptive. Women should avoid the use of overly large fitted diaphragms, as these prevent effective voiding of the bladder, especially after intercourse. Contraceptive sponges can cause similar problems. Better birth control options are to wear a cervical cap, or to have your partner wear a condom.
Quick Action Steps for Bladder Infection
1. Avoid urinating after intercourse until necessary. Full urination enables the body to more effectively eliminate bacteria from the urinary tract.
2. During intercourse, avoid using overly large fitted diaphragms and contraceptive sponges, which can prevent effective voiding of the bladder. It is better to wear a cervical cap, or to have your partner wear a condom.
3. Avoid all sugars, refined carbohydrates, sodas, processed foods, preservatives, artificial sweeteners (especially aspartame), corn syrup, alcohol, white bread and white flour products, pastries, and hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils, as well as all foods to which your are allergic.
4. Emphasize organic, fresh vegetables and non-citrus fruits, organic grains, as well as organic, free-range meats and poultry and wild-caught fish.
5. Drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day.
6. Drink 16 ounces of organic, unsweetened blueberry or cranberry juice.
7. Useful nutrients for treating bladder infection include vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin, C, zinc, and acidophilus.
8. Adding half a teaspoon of mannose powder to pure filtered water and drinking it every one to two hours can speed recovery.
9. The herbs buchu, corn silk, couch grass, goldenseal, marshmallow leaf, and uva ursi can also be helpful, as can fresh parsley.
10. To relieve symptoms, take alternating hot and cold sitz baths.
Consult with a homeopathic physician to determine an appropriate homeopathic remedy.
Best of health to you
Cheers

ALWAYS talk to a doctor first with your concerns. The only thing that will get rid of an infection is antibiotics, but here are some tips in prevention maintanance:
1. Drink lots of water and juices, particularly cranberry juice. Stay away from sodas and sugary flavored drinks.
2. When you gotta go, GO- holding in urine will irritate your bladder.
3. Take showers- lots of long baths in soapy water can irritate the urethra, sparking a new infection.
4. Good feminine hygiene can help- use a clean washcloth every time you wash the genital area. Douches are a no no, because they can wash out good bacteria as well as bad- that gives the bad guys a chance to set up housekeeping. Wear clean undergarments and change frequently- even twice a day if necessary. Hope these help.

10% of the women suffer from it, some frequently all their lives some just get it periodically (sometimes its connected to intercourse). You must first of all do some tests to figure out if there is any problem with your kidneys or bladder. You need to have your urine examined each time you get it as many times its an e-coli and that means antibiotics. You should try to drink a lot and urinate a lot. No citrus fruit and just very little ocffee if at all. There is a wealth of info on the net. Its called many times Urinary Tract infection: here is just one of many

Drink lots of water! Make sure to keep yourself hydrated at all times, to prevent them in the future. You can also drink water to get rid of them. When you use the restroom, wipe from front to back. Bladder infections can be caused by bacteria backing up into your urethra then to your bladder. Or if you're dehydrated, and you don't urinate often, it can cause the build up of bacteria.
Also, drink cranberry juice. It's cleansing to your bladder.

It is wise to get to the doctor a.s.a.p. A urinary tract infection gone unnoticed over a short period of time can get really serious and turn into a kidney infection (which I learned first hand). The doctor will give you antibiotics to fight it, in the meanwhile it is helpful to drink cranberry juice and lots of water. The link below has information about recurring infections as well.

Talk to your dr about your concerns - also, avoid using douches or sitting in bubble baths for too long becuz they can cause irritations to the urethra (where you pee from) Always make sure to wipe from front to back when using the toilet, never the other way around.

It takes antibiotics to get rid of them. To try and help prevent them, drinking plenty of water and cranberry juice can help a lot. If you don't want to drink Cranberry juice, you can buy it in a pill form that you swallow.
