I think they should not be happy with such knowledge, but understand that it is necessary if God is going to remain a holy God and a just God.
I don't think Christians benefit from the suffering of wrongdoers.

There is no reason to be glad that a place like hell exists, because that means that there are people who deserve to go there, which is a sad thought. But how would anyone benefit from the suffering of wrongdoers? Unless you were a sadist and liked to see people in pain.

The way i see it is there are many types of Christians. Some don't want others to suffer when they can be saved, but then there are other kinds to. It has been my experience that many of the different types have a large ego, so they always need to be right about religion. It seams to me that they are quicker to threaten someone that they are going to Hell when that person dissagrees with them. So your answer is yes and no.

No real Christian could remain in heaven while people were suffering in hell. The real Christians would voluntarily go to hell to give comfort and support to those forced to be there. Only the selfish, uncaring Christians would stay in heaven. This illustrates how ridiculous the whole idea is.

Glad that the lake of fire was created for Satan and his fallen angels, to finally get them out of the way once and for all so the new world will be established without his taint and mankind can progress into the incredible future we were made for. Horrified, as God Himself is, at any human soul following Satan there, especially since no one NEEDS to go there at all. Salvation is free--the door is still open--and any human soul will be a foreigner in hell, damned solely by his/her own choices. The Bible says it's not God's will that ANY should perish, but that it's a deep, personal relationship with Him that imparts life, both here and hereafter--sin makes that relationship impossible, but Jesus' sacrifice forgave our sins before we were even born, opening the way again. Now all we need to do is turn away from those sins and run into God's open arms (where there's no guilt or shame or condemnation, because all of God's judgment was poured out on Jesus Himself on the cross, He took it so we wouldn't have to) in order to begin that rich, passionate, two-way relationship of wild joy and fierce love and limitless adventure in this present life and for eternity.
(BTW, for the detail-oriented, I chose to accept the common usage of "hell" as synonymous with "lake of fire," for the sake of getting the point across, because the asker of this question is referring to the final place of torment and is asking about that rather than about technical definitions of terminology [which definitions are certainly important, but beside the point here])

No Christian I know gets any pleasure out of thinking that anyone is going to hell. The bible says that God is not willing for any to perish. If Christians didn't care about the fact that there is a hell, that it's a terrible place and it doesn't matter how snide people are, you don't want to see anyone end up there.....they would not take the time to warn people away from it and point them to Jesus.

Hell is not a place of endless torment. It is the end of the life. The unbeliver and persistant sinner will be...
2 Thes.1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

No one benefits when people make bad choices. Hell is knowing that you could have done better for yourself by making the right ones. We confine ourselves to misery and no one is made happy by that. I believe that the burning and suffering is internal and not so much a place of fire and brimstone.

Hell is where Christians go if they have not lived right; they've sinned, not taken the word of Christ into their hearts and minds and followed it to the best of their ability, that type of thing. It's used as a fear mechanism to behave oneself.
Personally, I've made reservations at Trader Joe's. :D
